The third Sauce Direct vinyl is on your way

Leeds based producer Skins delivers another collection of jungle-inspired productions on the new offering of his Sauce Direct series, highlighting both a deep respect for the genre's foundations and a forward-thinking approach to drum programming and sound design.

Kicking off with "357" and its atmospheric synth work with chopped-up amen breaks and weighty basslines, balancing nostalgic jungle influences with a modern production style.
Coming next "Burnin Up" with intricate rhythmic patterns, gradually unfolding into warm pads and expressive vocal fragments that add an emotional edge to the track.

On the B-side, "Heat Seeker" pushes into more intense territory. Driven by relentless breakbeats and dense jungle textures, the track builds toward soaring lead melodies that evoke elements of both rave and electronic music traditions. Inspired by an 80s film, it carries a cinematic energy throughout. And finally the EP closes with a reflective mood of "The Haze". Layered arpeggios, subtle pads, and finely crafted drum work create a spacious and immersive atmosphere, providing a fitting conclusion while highlighting another side of Skins' musical palette.

All in all, this is a superb new weapon of sophisticated hi-energy bangers that won't dissapoint you at all. It comes out officially on 3rd of July and it's available on 12" Vinyl and Digital format.

The "Wu Wei" EP by mʊdʌki

Operating at the crossroads of club culture and sonic experimentation, Czech artist mʊdʌki has built a reputation through her dynamic DJ sets fueled by Jungle, D&B and Dubstep.

Her practice embraces everything from unconventional Techno and Experimental electronics to sound-based art projects and compositions for installation spaces. Away from the studio and stage, she is equally engaged as a researcher, broadcaster, writer, and a driving force behind Phonon Crew.

So, after a long period of anticipation, her "Wu Wei" EP arrives as a 3-track journey into the less-charted territories that underpin rave and jungle culture. The EP draws inspiration from the energy, emotion, and physicality of the dancefloor while shifting the focus toward deeper listening. Its intricate arrangements and atmospheric depth reward both immersive home playback and powerful sound system experiences.

"Made with support of homies back in Minsk, Belarus, and dedicated to noone else than the Kru, alongside the forever calling nostalgia for the panel'ka vibez, mixed with the basswaves of LE. Sampling w/ Stwone, studio hours w/ Walter B."

#GLOWBUZZ Ep. 014:: Getafix Records 023 with Bad Boy Pete & Aaron Liberator Official Album Mix

Bad Boy Pete opens his life life on the recent episode of #GLOWBUZZ presented by GLOWKiD. This episode is celebrating the 23rd anniversary of his very own imprint, Getafix Records.

"Never really wanted this project framed around personalities. More interested in records and scenes existing in their own right. Strange how memories, records, pirate tapes and old flyers slowly became historical documents somewhere along the way while the scene itself keeps mutating into new forms." - BAD BOY PETE

Dirty Carpets - Vol. 4

Overlord Dyson returns to clean ya carpets and clean yer clocks with two knockout slices of rave intensity! Starting with the A side 'Take Me Higher', a piano anthem plucked from the record box labelled 1991 at approx 135BPM where the piano and divas contrast with the bristling muscular stabs, guaranteed to hoover up the dancefloor (pun intended)

Side B is a cheeky and perhaps timely number featuring the voice of cartoon villain, Skeletor on a darker production that incorporates of early Breakbeat Hardcore with Junglistic basslines, adding extra nostalgia for those of a certain age and a bit of fun on top of a certified rave banger! Grab it on Digi or Vinyl via Bandcamp or your preferred online vinyl store...BOSH!

Enduser meets Cabeabel

US-based Decay Recordings present a special collaboration between two distinct producers, resulting in a masterful release. Breakcore veteran Enduser joins forces with Cabeabel for a 2-track project built around fractured drum programming, submerged ambience, and heavy low-end pressure, creating a sound that feels both immediate and distant, aggressive yet reflective.

Kicking things off, “Spiral” unfolds through destabilized rhythms and drifting melodic fragments, while “Endzeit” arrives as a fierce breakcore assault fused with atmospheric depth, giving the release a more internal and enduring character. Mastering duties were handled by Jon Hall (Maschine Boy), whose sharp and detailed work brings clarity and impact to the final sound.

Rikipicchi joins BXL Underground

Rikipicchi locks into a zone where the system is heavy, and the crowd is fully dialed in. The Italian producer/DJ and Amsterdam Junglist Kru soldier presents his new weapon of frenzy amens. It's so massive!

“Groove With You” opens things up with a patient, rolling rhythm - subtle dub inflections ripple through a tightly controlled arrangement, giving it that hypnotic pull that doesn’t demand attention but quietly commands it. It’s a slow-burner, designed for long blends and locked-in dancers. On the flipside, “Sweet Machine” strips things back even further, pivoting toward grit and pressure. The low-end hits harder, the structure feels more skeletal, and the track thrives on tension rather than release.

This 2-track EP comes out on a very limited number of copies from the Belgian mighty BXL Underground. You can grab it via Bandcamp, so snag it as soon as possible, before you regret it.

Rory Hoy is back on Diesel Recordings with a fresh instalment. His 2-track EP is titled "Smooth Orchestral Thinking" and it's one of the essential picks of this week.
The A-side, "Smooth," channels an early ’90s rave-inspired breakbeat style with a forward-looking edge, while the B-side, "Orchestral Thinking", guides listeners toward a more cinematic club atmosphere. The EP has already gained early backing from BBC Radio and highlights how Rory Hoy, shaped by the Big Beat era, continues to deliver vibrant and uplifting energy with consistency.

Q&A with Beats Are Broken

On behalf of his recent release with us, we caught up for a quick Q&A with our good friend Alex (aka Beats Are Broken).

GK: How's the scene in Brazil?

Alex: Man, the Electronic scene in Brazil exists and is very strong, but focused on House. I live in the biggest city in Brazil, which is São Paulo and around here there have always been many clubs and itinerant parties, but the vast majority focused on house or trance. In the 90's, clubs played what we call Flash House, which is nothing more than the songs of Italian producers that hit the world. In some clubs, they started playing Hardcore and Jungle, but without much variation. It was almost always the same songs.

There are a few parties focused on Drum 'n' Bass and hardcore, but they happen once a year. It has several Drum 'n' Bass producers and DJs who are internationally known and has releases on major labels such as V Records. In these parties, usually promoted by a local dj, we have had several artists such as Altern8, Bizarre Inc., Baby D and others. Some of these parties are quite underground, with little or no promotion outside the specific world of the scene. But the big clubs always played house, house variations and trance. And we've also had great shows like The Prodigy, Kraftwerk, 808 State, to name a few.

I believe that, as in many places around the world, here we have a main scene where trendy artists come to perform, and we have a more underground scene where internationally known artists come to play, but are known by a few passionate fans of this style of music since the 90s.

Brazil is very large, and the city where I live has 11.9 million inhabitants...Therefore, there is room for all tastes and styles. I may not be being fair, but that's how I see the scene around here.

GK: What are your top 3 personal Beats Are Broken productions?

Alex: "Fire" - I chose this track because it brought me a very nice surprise which was being remixed by Dj Deluxe. I've always been a big fan of his work and him asking to do a remix of my music was just amazing.

"The Dreamer" - this track is also very special as it came out on your compilation "GLOWKiD Pres. The Generation X Crew." This for me was an honor and a demonstration of the power that music has to bring people together, even if they are very far away.

"Music Forever" - and finally, this track, which even though it was discarded by a label, for me is very significant. As much for the name as for the sound itself... I really like it.

GK: When did your first release hit the streets? I think it was around 2017 with “Acid Overload”, right ?

Alex: My first song that was played was "Love's So High", which you played on Generation X Radio Show, but the first one that was officially released was "Acid Overload" by Ravenoyz Recordings from the great Wislov in July 2017. And it was released after you helped me to get in touch with him. After that I released several on Raveskool Recordings (thanks to the great Paul Cronin), Xtrahard Records (from Stuart Brown a.k.a The Pulse), Switchblade Digital and 4 The Core Recordings. And finally, I had the honor of remixing the anthem "I Need That Drug" by DJ CDC and also made two remixes for Dj Deluxe.

GK: What were your early records?

Alex: Well, I started recording cassette tapes of radio programs. When I started working, at 14, a whole new world opened up and I started to get to know record stores. At first, I bought what we called pirated records, with music in the style we call here Flash House. The first original record I bought was "Electric Café", by Kraftwerk. Over time, I discovered a CD rental store and they had things I had never heard of and in a style that was totally new to me. I rented two CDs: "T99 - Children Of Chaos" and "Altern 8 - Full On .. Maks Hysteria."

When I heard those CDs, I went crazy! What a spectacular sound. From then on, I started renting everything they had of that same style and ended up discovering The Prodigy and many other artists. It was love at first listen.

GK: What made you kicking off with music production?

Alex: I love music! I listen to it all the time, and many times, I would listen to a song and think: if it had an effect here or a different beat there, it would sound incredible! Then, talking to a friend, he showed me a computer program where you could create music. I thought: with the amount of music I listen to, could I use that to create something? Since I had no knowledge of music theory, I started studying a little and using the experience of listening to so much music to apply to some productions. I started doing a lot of things, and of course, nothing was professional, but it sounded good. With the Internet and Facebook, I started connecting with people in the scene and pages dedicated to web shows.

After a while, I discovered your show, and everything started connecting. From then on, I started improving my productions, people started liking them, and they started playing on some web radios...This made me think that I could release something and reach some people with my tracks. For me, it was a great surprise that my music pleased several producers in the scene.

GK: What's the magic behind Oldskool Rave music?

Alex: For me, it's something inexplicable! I love broken beats, and having those beats, with energetic stabs, pianos, distorted vocals, and bass lines that mess with my mind, it all makes me euphoric. I believe many people feel the same way.

GK: Any local artists and albums of any type of genre that you rate from there?

Alex: There's a very successful rock band here called Titãs.
The album titled "Cabeça Dinossauro," released in 1986, besides being very cool in musical terms, featured daring songs with somewhat controversial themes. It made a big impression on me. And I can't fail to mention DJ Marky's compilation, "Toco Jungle Tracks," released in 1995, which featured many songs by artists such as DJ Hype, Sonz Of A Loop Da Loop Era, Krome & Time, among others. This album introduced me to many songs and many artists that I didn't know.

DJ BEENO - Rock Your Body EP [Wicked Records]

Wicked Records is a relatively new Dutch imprint, founded in 2024 by veteran producer Maurice Schipperheijn, better known in Hardcore world as Wicked XXX. After a long hiatus, in 2020 he revived the Wicked XXX alias and reconnected with the sound that first defined his career.

And, Wicked Records reflects that history. It's a label clearly driven by classic rave DNA and the spirit of early Dutch hardcore. One of those releases that stand out, comes from DJ Beeno - a well-known Kniteforce soldier and resident radio dj of Kniteforce Radio.

His latest 4-track EP leans unapologetically into the traditional gabber toolkit, pounding kicks, rave pianos, pitched-up vocal snippets and some of his usual “chipmunk” hooks. Rather than reinventing the formula, Beeno embraces it, delivering tracks that feel like a direct nod to the mid-90s sound that labels like Mokum helped popularize. At times the melodies and vocal elements drift toward the cheesier side of rave nostalgia, but that also seems to be part of the charm.

One for the heavyweight crew who like it raw. Take for instance, the tune “140”, which is a total cracker and our highlight from the record. Give it a spin and you won’t be disappointed.

Underkut - Both Ends [Super Rhythm Trax Reissue]

And now something completely exciting for those who love the original oldskool sounds. Taking it back to 1991 and Mendoza Records, "Both Ends" by Underkut is one of those underground sophisticated gems that's more than catchy.

From the first drop, the Big Daddy Kane sample sets this off… “Get Raw” and it never sounded so menacing. The track smashes through with super slamming breakbeats, a massive bassline, and raw, rugged energy. It provides authentic underground hardcore power with obvisouly no pianos or chipmunks.

And now, Jerome Hill, the man behind Super Rhythm Trax, proudly presents this classic reissued on his label. Carefully remastered from the original DAT tapes, both original versions of this ferocious hardcore cut are seamlessly hitting harder than ever.

This tune is a proper London pirate classic, rooted in the vibrant early ’90s scene. Originally released on Mendoza Records, run by Brixton-based Faze 1 FM pirate station owner Mendoza, this record carries all the grit and spirit of its era. Add to that the fact that while digging through the DAT tapes, an unreleased, unheard vocal version was also discovered. Included as a true of its time artefact, this mix leans further into the record’s Hip Hop influences, reflecting the Britcore energy flourishing alongside crews like Hijack, Gunshot, Cash Crew, Demon Boyz, and London Posse.

This reissue is a rare chance to own a piece of hardcore history at a fair price. And with Bandcamp Day reaching on March 6, all profits go directly to the independent artists and labels. Eventually that makes it double the reason to show your support.

Introducing Flipside Mag

We are chuffed to see new entries within the scene, dealing with cool articles and features. When it's about a hard copy publication then our excitement gets doubled.

Introducing you Flipside. A printed, full-color fanzine dedicated to the Łódź rave scene, as I personally describe this city as the 'Nu-Rave capital'. The publication focuses both on its history and its current shape. A must-have for collectors and fans of rave culture.

"Why print? Because paper has a soul. Because a physical magazine doesn’t disappear overnight like a website forgotten after a decade. Because in 20 years, you’ll be able to take it out of the closet and, with a smile, dive back into the history of sounds that had a real impact on who we are." [Official statement from Flipside - Translated in English]

The very first issue of Flipside is available to buy now. It is a 36-page printed full-color fanzine dedicated to the Łódź rave scene. The publication focuses both on its history and its current shape. The first issue includes, among others, an interview with Base Club, as well as articles about Radicall, R.I.P Danger, Broken Mindz, and Unknown Past. It also features reports from iconic parties in Łódź and abroad, including London's 'Epidemic' 30th anniversary event. A must-have for collectors and fans of rave culture.

Everything there is in polish language, but it is all pure gold and deserves your attention and support.

RTK02: The new EP by Coco Bryce

Coco Bryce kicks off the new year in his usual prolific fashion, continuing to push past boundaries and explore new sonic territories. This time, he sets the tone for a fresh three-track EP on his Rythmoi Tou Kosmou side label, diving into a fusion of ethnic influences and classic jungle energy.

We were lucky enough to receive an early promo and were instantly struck by ‘Bir Allah’ - a bold reinterpretation of Greek rebetiko, propelled by his wildly chopped breakbeats. ‘Klezmer Crew’ follows with a slightly off-kilter rave workout, full of playful melodic twists and driving percussion. Closing track ‘Labyrinth’ channels the spirit of 1980s German synth experimentation, weaving shimmering, interlocking motifs over a rugged barrage of breaks.

Across the EP, Bryce seamlessly blends folk traditions, global textures, and forward-charging drum & bass. This EP is worth every single penny and a must-to-get to your collection.

In Coco we trust!

JMT - Warehouse Daze LP [Love Dove Recordings]

JMT takes it back to the halcyon days of early UK Rave with a whole album: Warehouse Daze.

'Never Be Alone' is in the vein of those big Rachel Wallace tunes from back in the day, switching between anthemic piano and Korg M1 keys

'The Truth' switches gears with a pacey funky drummer, 303s and subtle shades of European early Rave (Capella, DJ Professor..) before dropping the motherload of big piano! '

'Mind Flux' seemingly nods to Manchester legends, N-Joi with fierce acid pads, tough beats and dark Rave aesthetics circa 91/92

'Without You' is the undisputed hands in the air moment of this album, combining breaks, 4x4 beats, heartstring tugging vocals and the absolute daddy of all instruments (you will come across the word 'piano' a lot in this review, it's the nature of the game, bay bay!)

'Dancing In The Rain' opens with rain and thunder samples and layered breaks, leading into a weighty first breakdown, punctuated by deep subs, rave 101 piano and familiar vocals (if you know, you know).

'Take 'Em Higher' delivers on the titles promise from the opening beat, channeling that 91/92 vibe with added, crisp and brisk breaks, adding some trancey strings at the mid point.

'Hooked' enters the Jungle with a warm, hopeful sounding roller that tips a respectful smiley bucket hat to the classic 'Renegade Snares' while sprinkling in a touch of darkness

'Beautiful People, Beautiful Vibes' throws metaphorical hands to the roof, led by Ragga MC call and response lyrics and Ragga Rave stabs, pattern switches and hoovers.

'Hold You Tight' leans into the Northern England/Scotland/Europe brand of Piano Rave with a breathless, inspiring vocal.

'Intoxicated' takes it right back to 91 with some good old 4x4 Hardcore Rave, complete with mentasms and deep string sections in the blueprint light vs dark style of the era.

And this closes out the album- a pure love letter to what many consider the golden era of Rave music. Stick some white gloves on, throw on a high viz jacket, pop a whistle on a string round your neck and make sure to grab this album!

'Rave Horns' by Motivbreaks

Fresh off what he described as “his best gig ever”, last month alongside Mark Archer, the man like Motivbreaks returned hungry for more. His latest EP called 'Rave Horns' exhales post-rave adrenaline, where the breakbeats are ruthless and relentless and engineered for motion.

Representing the north side of Greece on things nu-rave, Motivbreaks has scored a seriously catching tune that fuels every set and the dancefloors. Worth every single penny.
