Rory Hoy - Smooth / Orchestral Thinking

Rory Hoy is back on Diesel Recordings with a fresh instalment. His 2-track EP is titled "Smooth Orchestral Thinking" and it's one of the essential picks of this week.
The A-side, "Smooth," channels an early ’90s rave-inspired breakbeat style with a forward-looking edge, while the B-side, "Orchestral Thinking", guides listeners toward a more cinematic club atmosphere. The EP has already gained early backing from BBC Radio and highlights how Rory Hoy, shaped by the Big Beat era, continues to deliver vibrant and uplifting energy with consistency.

Listen now to the new single by Rory Hoy

One of Strictly Nuskool Blog favorite heroes is the amazing Rory Hoy.
UK multi award musician/DJ returns with a supreme new single by the title 'What's It All About' released via You Funked Up label.
It's originally a pretty 4/4 funky house banger including some catchy soulful vocals, coming amog a club friendly take over by the man like Saad Ayub who's giving his dark techno-ish twist to the original single.

"What's It All About" is out now and available on major platforms.

New joint by Rory Hoy & RamSkank

We're dealing with a music friendship for almost a decade, that's been incarnated to many quality tracks for us all out there. The UK multi award musician, Rory Hoy collabs again with his good friend, and Breaks/House producer RamSkank and the result is one more fantastic new single release, by the title 'Bring Out The Love'.

An original funky track that's revisited in a contemporary wide disco stage by Rory Hoy, followed by a dark acid clubbish weapon taken from RamSkank's magic touch.
All you have to expect is some Trance style electronic stabs, sweat-soaked female vocal samples and aggressive stabs combining giddily with slamming beats and raw, rave-era bass.

Rory Hoy's version thrillingly re-casts the cut as a steroid-powered disco-house stomper rich in Chic style guitar licks and cut-glass strings, while the Ramskank revision is a thumping, acid-fired slab of mind-mangling peak-time insanity with the weighty bassline known to humankind.”

This EP is a Juno Download exclusive.

Rory Hoy & RamSkank EP 2021

The UK mighty nuskool hero and author of the amazing book called 'The Little Big Beat', the man like Rory Hoy, returns with a new digital release collaboration with RamSkank. And to be fair, both of these two producers made an astonishing work in here.
The illustrious 90s powerful house buzz is back!

'Butter' by Rory Hoy is a quirky funky house and full on nostalgia track reviving the warehouse good old days, while RamSkank's takeover reminds a lot of the power of eurotechno vibes (2 Unlimited, Cappella etc.). The third track from this EP comes from RamSkank and his original 'Gonna Let You Go', an early 90s house-y vibe reminisching Nomad style, while Rory's takeover finds him blending a bit of acidity into a speed garage tip. Marvellous!

All in all this one's a great EP, charting at the moment over Junodownload.
A good suggestion for your sets if you're a sophisticated DJ playing out some 4/4 bangers and wanna cause shivers on the current dancefloor resurrection.

Book recommendation:: ‘The Beatles - Acting Naturally (Obscure, Rare, Unfinished and Abandoned Film and TV Projects Of The Fab Four)’

"It’s been a labour of love during my downtime, with loads of research and I think I’ve managed to unearth a lot of rare, obscure, and abandoned and rejected projects that will amaze and surprise you, as well as new information on the well-known films."

The multi-award music producer,dj and film maker, Rory Hoy from UK, has just announced his brand new book following his consecutive books about the great Big Beat movement. This time he tries to delve into a different angle of the story of The Beatles bringing light to those more obscure and abandoned projects that some of us are unaware of.

Official description:

Here is a different take of The Beatles story, which includes the more obscure, rare and unseen appearances and references worldwide, through the wonderful art of film, television and video; some of which will make you gasp in disbelief! It's full of unfinished projects and little known facts: did you know that The Quarrymen (the proto-Beatles) apparently appeared in a Liverpool City Police Recruitment Film in 1958, or that The Beatles had a film release before A Hard Day's Night that only came out in Australia?

Also featuring the many projects The Beatles turned down, such as 'The Yellow Teddy Bears' AKA 'The Gutter Girls' and the weird and wonderful shelved projects such as Joe Orton's 'Up Against It' and McCartney's sci-fi movies of the 1970s. McCartney did however make experimental films, George did sing with Carole King on a novelty record, Ringo did duet with Carrie Fisher, and John and his wife Yoko did make Did Britain Murder Hanratty? It all goes to show that The Beatles were never idle during their time together and as solo artists. In this book, we will look at the history of the lesser-known films and TV shows that are associated with The Beatles, as well as their well-known canonical movies, such as the fictionalised documentary of A Hard Days Night, to the animated masterpiece of Yellow Submarine; to documentaries about them, biopics, parodies, and other projects that involved the Fab Four in some capacity. The Beatles didn't just revolutionise pop music, they revolutionised pop culture as a whole!

‘The Beatles - Acting Naturally (Obscure, Rare, Unfinished and Abandoned Film and TV Projects Of The Fab Four)’ will be out on 2nd August via New Haven Publishing and it's already available to pre-order now via Amazon and Waterstones on the links below.
