Pillz Vol. 7

Have you had your Pillz Vol. 7? The elusive unnamed and unknown artist reaches number seven in their series of oldskool hardcore mash ups. 'All Night Long' wraps hoover stabs around a thick, rolling breakbeat, paying tribute to the late Tango and other 92 era heroes of hardcore. 'Horny Hardcore' is the ruffneck rudeboy of this EP, the frequent refrain of 'one time for the foghorns' punctuates rapid and continuous stab switches and key changes, a guessing game for sample spotters and a huge burst of nostalgic rave energy all in one! Take these pillz daily! Available on vinyl and digital

Unknown - Pillz Vol. 6

Nothing beats a surprise drop of the secretive Pillz series- not even a Jet 2 Holiday! This is vol 6 of the series and for the many of you who I know love a good oldskool mashup, you won't be disappointed!

Imagine if there was an 'Energizer' of the famous 'Energizer' series of oldskool mashups from the 90s? You don't have to imagine anymore! 'Charlesworth Chops' mashes up the famous Dave Charlesworth series into one crisp rebuild of the best bits with added flair in just under five minutes so you can throw your hands up in the air on every subsequent replay.

'We Can Make It' is serious ruffneck bizznizz in a rolling 92' Hardcore Jungle state of mind, a track in it's own right that spans the complete spectrum of elevated euphoria from mind bending stabs to positive piano. Two 'Pillz' that go down very nicely!

Pillz 005

It's quite the treat to get two volumes of the elusive artist unknown Pillz series in one year! The final installment, Volume 5 is on Pre Sale right now and it's a must for your growing collection of modern era Rave vinyl!

'1am @Bagleys' captures the vibe of the legendary London venue in a fast paced belter that reimagines Bagley's anthems by Citadel of Kaos, DJ Slammer & Red Alert and Seduction into a hyper-happy face melter with a massive, nostalgic rush!

'Hardcore Confusion' is my personal favourite. As with all previous Pillz, I get that instant dopamine hit, every time I press play on this one! Put it down to the cleverly chopped up vocals and the sheer amount of 91/92 classics that go out into the blender, morphing into a brand new track with multiple drops that push up the excitement levels to a frenzy!

Unknown - Pillz Vol. 4

The elusive Hardcore Mashup maestro returns for a fourth installment of the Pillz series.

I've been a fan of this series from it's Inception a few years back and this is easily my favourite release to date.

Like Oldskool Hardcore gold to a happy raver's ears, 'I Can Feel It' and 'Buzzing' both hit the sweet spot with DJ friendly intros and outros, the former, a rushy affair with plenty of 'I remember that' moments that induce mass endorphins at a rapid rate (if you raved or just loved the tunes , you will understand). The latter, a darker but equally pleasing affair with adrenaline fueled nostalgic darkside.

Mashups but more than just mashup s, these beauties stand alone on their own creative merits, striking the balance between way back when and the surging new wave of Breakbeat Hardcore, Pillz that go down a treat!

Pillz 003

It's time for another instalment of mysterious Breakbeat Hardcore mash-up mayhem from the clandestine rave cut-up maestro simply known as 'Pillz.'

https://pillz1.bandcamp.com/album/unknown-pillz-vol-3

A long, long time ago, back in the days of giant raves in fields, there was a series of Hardcore Rave mash-ups known as the 'Energizer' series. If you know that series, you will instantly love the 'Pillz' series, now in it's 3rd instalment.

'Cutting Up Samples' cuts up tunes like Yolk's 'Bish Bosh', Foul Play's 'Feel The Vibe' and Rhythm For Reason's 'Grand National' with countless other much loved tunes of the era. But the term 'mash-up' is perhaps a little unfair as each section of this track and indeed all the the 'Pillz' tunes have been replayed, not sampled and even then, tweaked and fine tuned. It might be better to refer to these tracks as originals, influenced by the oldskool.

'Cutting Up Samples' is loaded from start to end with scratch samples, chopped up vocals and so many variations on the quintessential rave formula, you won't be able to keep up, but you will enjoy trying!!!

'Listen To The Sample' chugs along with more of your favourites (and so many of them!). There's more of a Jungle/Jungle Tekno leaning on this one but there's absolutely no let-up! Five minutes and 15 seconds approx of rave lightning in a bottle!!!! Order your vinyl copy via the link above
