Jakuzzi Superstar join Omni Music

 

We’re always happy to see our friends Jacuzzi Superstar, who previously appeared on "Strictly Nuskool Vol. 3" with “This Is Acid”, now joining the Omni Music family.

This time, however, they deliver something completely different. Their EP, titled "Enter The Jakuzzi" offers 3 special junglistic cuts reppin that classic ’90s spirit through rolling breaks, atmospheric textures and delicate melodic touches, without feeling stuck in nostalgia.

"Can You Feel It" sets the pace with chopped-up drums and subtle keys, while “Quartz Inversion” heads straight for the dancefloor with a proper old-school jungle roller. Closing track is the personal favorite “Touch.” It's an emotional turn, combining piano, strings and scattered vocal snippets with expertly crafted breaks.

"Hot Gush" by Outcry

 

German duo OUTCRY, comprised of Dave G and ACiDicy, have been active for nearly three decades, building a reputation through their uncompromising blend of hard-edged breakbeats. Whether performing live or in the studio, they've always stayed true to their underground roots while constantly refining their sound.

 

Their new album, "Hot Gush", delivers a powerful electronic breakbeat experience that should instantly connect with fans of Pendulum. At the same time, it reminded me of Killaflaw, thanks to its gritty attitude and high-octane energy.

All in all, what really stands out is how the duet keep the intensity on a high level with clear flaming productions The album is bold, energetic, and shows that the boys continue to push their sound forward without losing the character that has defined them for so many years.

Gremino - Metro Station DJ Mix

Finnish Junglist Gremino presents his latest specialty, under the title "Metro Station".

This project introduces to us 8 tracks that appear twice, first as experimental 4x4 jungle and then reimagined as hard techno. Every 4x4 beat is constructed entirely from chopped breakbeats rather than conventional drum hits, creating a unique rhythmic language that ties both sides together while allowing each genre to take on its own distinct character. Rather than feeling like alternate versions, the two halves reveal how rhythm alone can fundamentally reshape a track's identity.

The "Jungle Side" thrives on restless, fractured grooves, shifting between urban tension, tropical warmth, and post-apocalyptic decay, while the "Techno Side" transforms those same ideas into relentless warehouse pressure with rolling techno rumble replacing jungle's sub-heavy foundations. Hearing tracks such as "Metro Station" or "Block Breeze" in both forms highlights Gremino's fascination with rhythm as a tool for reinvention. Throughout, rough textures, playful detours, and unconventional sound design keep the music feeling personal rather than purely functional.

The release is paired with a beautifully produced cassette edition limited to just 30 copies, coming out digitally as well.

Nectax - Swinging Flavors #16 [Beat Machine Records]

Better late than never for a release like this one above.

Italian based Beat Machine Records expands its "Swinging Flavors" series with No.16 release, driven by Newcastle producer Nectax.

His "Cool Runnings" draws heavily from the dubbed-out, stripped-back feel of mid-'90s jungle, pairing rolling basslines and razor-sharp breakbeats with a polished mix that gives every drum hit and sub frequency added weight. On the flip, Fracture reshapes the original into a more intense club weapon, layering fractured rhythms, restless percussion, and sharper bass movements while preserving the laidback spirit at its core.

Together, the two cuts capture the evolving identity of the Swinging Flavors series, following standout contributions from Ac1d Vicious, DJ Sofa, and Ornette Hawkins. This release is available on 7" vinyl including collection card and stickers and digital.

Before Hardcore, there was House, before House there was Electro. Jay Strata explores three years in the mid 1980s through the medium of three tracks- 1984, 1985 and 1986 1984 combines classic early House kicks, Toms, soaring melodies, Orchestra strike notes and quirky vocal samples, talking it back it the days of the Chicago pioneers. 1985 is a bouncy Electro/House Jacker with Adonis/Steve Hurley style riffs and intricate overlapping beats straight from the warehouse raves. A catchy vocal refrain adds to the authentic vibe. Imagine Frankie Knuckles dropping this at one of his legendary all-nighters. 1986 features a vocal rendition of the EP title over a catchy, hypnotic groove with the tempo slightly lowered. Leeds based producer Skins delivers another collection of jungle-inspired productions on the new offering of his Sauce Direct series, highlighting both a deep respect for the genre's foundations and a forward-thinking approach to drum programming and sound design.

Kicking off with "357" and its atmospheric synth work with chopped-up amen breaks and weighty basslines, balancing nostalgic jungle influences with a modern production style.

Coming next "Burnin Up" with intricate rhythmic patterns, gradually unfolding into warm pads and expressive vocal fragments that add an emotional edge to the track.

On the B-side, "Heat Seeker" pushes into more intense territory. Driven by relentless breakbeats and dense jungle textures, the track builds toward soaring lead melodies that evoke elements of both rave and electronic music traditions. Inspired by an 80s film, it carries a cinematic energy throughout. And finally the EP closes with a reflective mood of "The Haze". Layered arpeggios, subtle pads, and finely crafted drum work create a spacious and immersive atmosphere, providing a fitting conclusion while highlighting another side of Skins' musical palette.

Operating at the crossroads of club culture and sonic experimentation, Czech artist mʊdʌki has built a reputation through her dynamic DJ sets fueled by Jungle, D&B and Dubstep.

Bristol:: The "This Is Jungle Takeover" Exhibition is on (Ends on 28 June 2026)

 

The latest exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy (RWA), This Is Jungle, celebrates 30 years of Bristol’s influential Jungle and Drum ’n’ Bass culture. This immersive showcase traces the genre’s development from the city’s underground music movement of the late 1980s, featuring a rich collection of record artwork, event flyers, photographs, rare artefacts and memorabilia that honour the artists and collectives who helped shape its distinctive sound.

Developed by Kirk Thompson (DJ Krust), Flynn Ites (Flynnites) and Gary Thompson, co-author of The Art and Sound of the Bristol Underground, the exhibition shines a spotlight on trailblazing names such as Full Cycle Records, Independent Dealers, More Rockers and the Ruff Neck Ting Crew.

Visitors can also take part in a special Listening Lab session on 13 June from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, hosted by Krust and Flynnites alongside guest speakers DJ Dazee and Dr Meaker. The discussion will delve into the records, dubplates and influential tracks that have defined their musical journeys, offering unique insight into Bristol’s vibrant bass music heritage.

Open from 19 May to 28 June at the RWA on Queens Road, This Is Jungle is free to attend, with donations welcomed. Expect a powerful exploration of 30 years of rhythms, breakbeats and underground culture that helped place Bristol firmly on the global music map.
