Amiga Breaks returns to Dark Til Dawn Records with the release of a massive collection of oldskool style breakbeat tracks, heavily inspired by the classic sounds of the Amiga 500-1200 computers of yesteryear. Taking a departure from his trademark 140-160 bpm forays into the realms of hardcore and jungle, Amiga Breaks winds the tempo down to 120 bpm with the brand new '16 BIT Memories' album.

Right from the first few bars of atmospheric breakbeat opening track 'Interdimensional Sliding' to the deep techno outro of 'Binary Dreams', it becomes clear that Amiga Breaks has taken great steps to reconstruct the classic, retro sounds of the early nineties, whilst adding his own personal spin on the genres contained. For the likes of 'Deep Constellation', 'Liquid Flow', 'Mind Science' and 'Nu Jazz Kind' we see a funk flavoured, 2-step garage breaks and shuffling house percussion, combine with lush strings rolling basslines to great effect, providing the perfect combination of rough and smooth textures. 

'Digital Vistas' and 'Execute Command' we are provided with two electrifying takes on the classic techno template with the former's energetic, synth heavy flow and the latter's electro-esque focus on beats and bass. Rolling breakbeats are the flavour of the day with 'Titan Rise' and 'U Turn Around Jupiter' layering a heady blend of euphoric and silky smooth synth melodies over rugged beats and deep bass notes. In addition to the aforementioned genres, the spirit of rave flow strong through the pulsating bass riffs of 'Mr Sax' and 'Positive Vibes', the latter of which utilises a positively uplifting, dubwise riddim combined with soothing pads.

Proving that they are no stranger to championing the freshest, underground jungle and drum & bass talent, Dark Til Dawn Records introduces the brand new EP from label newcomer NY SkyKore with the release of the sublime 'Flight Lines' EP.

'Dawn Of The Tiger' kicks things off in an authentically retro, intelligent jungle style with it's gorgeous blend of sweeping, atmospheric chords, deftly programmed bass notes, nature documentary vocal snippets from Sir Dave and intense, tearing amen breaks. A track which if released back in '94 would have been on LTJ Bukem's set-list the moment he heard it. The EP's title track, 'Flight Lines' follows next with a similar fusion of rough and smooth elements, this time combining gentle guitar melodies with an euphoric synth motif, which soon flows into a bombastic bassline coupled with a series of frantically edited, rolling breaks. 

My personal favourite track, 'Ghosts' sees jungle's melting pot formula hybridize with elements of footwork, I.D.M. and house aesthetics with it's heady blend of high BPM, chopped-up breakbeats fuse with scuttering snares, bubbling, acidic bass throbs and stuttering, ecstatic male vocals. 'SkyWars' fast forwards the oldskool jungle format right into the future with it's expertly implemented use of classic, vintage elements and production techniques with current atmospheric elements. The EP is brought to a close with the Roland 909 drum machine inspired '909 Mix' of 'Flight Lines', which sees the original version receive a pulsating, bass overhaul reminiscent of Lemon D's legendary 1996 classic, 'City Lights' on Prototype Recordings.

BC Rydah up next flings down some future, jump-up, tear-out junglism with 'Cliq Claq', where he incorporates smooth and soulful vocals (including the late and great Barry White) alongside classic rap snippets, intricately sliced and diced amen break edits and deep subsonic bass. 

Rydah successfully melds modern production styles with oldskool jungle attitude on 'Cliq Claq' without ever devolving into the stale 'wobble-bassline' debacle that hip-hop themed jump-up did back in the day. Rinsing tune!!!

Last on the list for my long overdue Dark Til Dawn Records' Single Of The Week update is FOTH's sublime 'Stone Hill (Sky's The Limit)'. A celebration of manic amen breaks and basslines set to the soundtrack of lush, ambient electronica pads and and melodies (as well as a legendary PS1 purple dragon!). 'Stone Hill (Sky's The Limit)' is a highly effective amalgamation of I.D.M. atmospherics and jungle percussion, as well as being an intensely uplifting tune in it's own right. Gorgeous track!!!

For their latest release, Dark Til Dawn Records enlist the talents of FOTH to produce a mammoth seven track EP, the quizzically titled 'Dolphins In My Brain' featuring three exclusive remixes of the namesake track by Msymiakos, Digital Pilgrimz and 2Brainz' Rad Rod.

FOTH kicks off the EP with the electronica influenced 'The One That Makes Me Scream', with it's fusion of lush, Boards Of Canada style synth washes overlaid with soothingly soulfull vocals driven by an energetic, yet unfussy breakbeat. The hazy, psychedelia tinged 'High Noon' layers a fusion of looped pianos, gorgeous ambient pads and self-realisation movie dialogue, with rolling jungle percussion and bass blasts. Am gonna be making an obscure observation here, but if you can imagine the works of Odd Nosdam, if he made jungle instead of dub themed ambient drone!

The Digital Pilgrimz step up to the plate for the first in a series of remixes of  'Dolphins In My Brain', and they deliver a hypnotic, ascending, pad melody accentuated by reggae style trumpet blasts and chiming synth notes over a hard-hitting Think break. Msymiakos' remix follows next, which sees him incorporating a gentle, chilled melody over some marvelously intricate drumwork, heavyweight, tear-out amens and rude bass. The third in the trilogy of 'Dolphins In My Brain' remixes comes from Rad Rod, who takes us on a journey into darker jungle territory by fusing intensely jittery chopped breaks with heavily reverberated dolphin samples, and a moody vibrato synth melody to get right under your skin.

The original FOTH mix of 'Dolphins In My Brain' drops next in all of it's warped bassline and manic amen break majesty. The EP concludes with 'Outer Spacious', and switches expertly from D&B to jungle tinged footwork, with it's fusion of jittery breaks and chopped female vocals and ambient pads peppered with NASA space flight samplage.

Despite the fact that all tracks featured on FOTH's 'Dolphins In My Brain' EP contain a strong drum & bass/jungle focus on style, the EP also contains a strong element of electronica which suits home listening just as well as being suited for more adventurous dancefloors. The thinking man's jungle/D&B!!!

Dark Til Dawn Records revisit May's Slekta 'Jungle Reworks' EP to add 6 brand new remixes to their discography. Featuring a heavyweight selection of nuskool producers on remix duty, 'Jungle Reworked (PT 1)' is guaranteed to deliver sound system devastation.

'Jungle Reworked (PT 1)' opens with Jonny 5's jazzy tinged, yet slightly sinister amen rinse out remix of 'Doves'. Meshing in jazzy keys alongside ominous, chopped up choir FX over a rolling drumbreak. Rad Rod's frenetic, jungle-footwork revamp of 'Rewind To 95' then incorporates intricately fragmented and spliced breakbeat edits alongside half-speed claps and mashed up female vocals. 

Galvatron steps up next to provide his reinterpretation of 'Doves', where he fuses two iconic breaks (the Amen and 'Angel' break) to accompany an ominous, dark jazz tinged soundscape peppered with classic jungle vocal FX. Slekta's 'Adventures In 5:4' then receives a deeply atmospheric and rolling, drum & bass rework from FOTH, who adds insanely tight amen choppage and sublime bass patterns that could easily match Dillinja in his prime. 

'Rewind To 95' sees another junglistic reworking, this time from Exit Point who takes things right back to the dancefloor with his solid, dancehall bassline meets dub-skank flavoured, jungle/D&B remix. Norfik concludes this collection of remixes with his short but sweet, jazzy, amen break led version of 'Doves' which comes complete with dusty vinyl crackles and spacious, trippy key notes. Altogether an excellent grouping of five unique and varied Slekta revisionings that'll prove essential for both jungle/D&B headz and ravers alike.
