[Dark Til Dawn Records] Jim Z - Expedition [Single Of The Week - Free Download!!!]

1/ Expedition.

For the latest Dark Til Dawn records Single Of The Week, Oz based junglist Jim Z takes us back in time to when jungle tekno ruled the airwaves and raves with his sublime 'Expedition' single. Combining a thumping 4/4 kickdrum with a metallic, timestretched amen break as the main percussive elements. Jim z also peppers 'Expedition' with two instantly recognisable, vintage jungle samples to get the oldskool heads flashing their lighters and throwing their hands in the air. A wicked free release, so no excuse to pass it over. Get onnit!

Jim Z's 'Expedition' Single Of The Week is available to listen and download for free from the Dark Til Dawn Records Soundcloud link below..

DJ Pantelis 'Its Just A Feeling (Breakbeat Mix)' [1993]

You could describe it like .. 'Better late than never' or some others stuck to the Oldskool could also say 'better 1993 than nothing'..Well no need to argue with none of these as this breakbeat gem in here is defo.. sexy!
DJ Pantelis (aka Pantelis Kotakis) from Greece takes us back in time and offers us a hidden gem from his vaults as it was released only on white label by a limited number of 500 copies in Germany. This track is called 'Its Just A Feeling [Breakbeat Mix]' and was written & produced by him during October 1993 using for equipment: Roland W-30, Roland S750 and Korg M1. Worth to mention that it was played out for the first time on summer 1994, when he was a resident dj on Acropol Club in Salonica, Greece.
It's an alive feeling, a true goosebumps gem aged 21 years old today, which is still pumping, and rolling inside us! Was really amazing to learn about this track's history and being honoured and happy for this pure Greek product from such an established producer/dj like DJ Pantelis, who's spinning the buzz for over than 20 years focusing mainly on Tech House and Tribal House sounds.
Apart from producing and djing he's also running his labels like Sugar Factory Records (https://soundcloud.com/sugarfactory) and Synthetical Records (www.facebook.com/syntheticalrecords). He is one of the most successful Greek producers in Europe with alot of projects from various genres of dance music.

Press the 'PLAY' button  and enjoy it loud & proud!
This is ripped by a TDK Chrome cassette and given away on free download to all!

[SBV001] Abyss - The Ardcore Schwarzenegger E.P (SWITCHBLADE VINYL LIMITED EDITION VINYL RELASE - OUT NOW!!!)

A - The Butcher Of Bakersfield.
AA - Predator VIP.

The Future Jungle Blog's label of the year, Switchblade Digital has been on fire this year, with 12 consistently excellent releases under it's belt so far. Label owner, Abyss has now ventured the Switchblade brand into the physical realm with the very first release on sister label, Switchblade Vinyl, 'The Ardcore Schwarzenegger EP' by Abyss himself.

Featuring two cuts heavily inspired by a certain '80's action movie star and heavyweight, bass and breaks focussed, 1993-1994 jungle tracks.
Opening with 'The Butcher Of Bakersfield', a rolling, and heavily chopped amen number complimented by a classic '80's sci-fi film score and dialogue (the clue is in the title!).
It's companion track, 'Predator VIP' hides it's influences in plain sight and pairs a panicked string section with rapid-fire, chopped amen breaks, a monsterous growling bassline and even more iconic movie samples.

To sum it up 'The 'Ardcore Schwarzenegger EP' is an incredibly cinematic sounding, double A-Side release, which like it's inspiration, takes no prisoners.  It has been professionally mastered and cut by Curved Pressings, and is a strictly 200 limited run, 12" vinyl only release.
The 12" is available for £7.99 plus postage and packaging, and available to buy from the link below, so please show your support for 'The 'Ardcore Schwarzenegger EP' release, and here's to more Switchblade Vinyl 12" releases.

[KODE 075] Silent Force - 1993 (Out Now On Kode 5 Recordings)

1/ Silent Force - 1993.

Athens based producer Silent Force makes his debut on the infamous Kode 5 Recordings label, and he's not taking any prisoners with this dark amen assault. Taking cue from breakbeat hardcore/jungle tracks from 1993, this single is all out darkcore, tear-out vibes. With a cinematic sweeping string intro and half speed breaks, '1993' shifts up a gear with the introduction of a huge rolling yet expertly chopped-up amen section. Further breakbeat splicing continues further into the track along with well incorporated 'Bride Of Frankenstein' dialogue samples. If you like your hardcore dark and oldskool sounding then '1993' delivers the goods.

'1993' by Silent Force is available from the following digital music stores...

7th Storey Projects - The Dark Arts Volume 1 Review (12" Vinyl - Out Now)

A1 - FX - Dark Places.
A2 - DJ Fav - Soul Survivor.
AA1 - Wellbelove - Immortal.
AA2 - Worldwide Epidemic - Ruler Of Olympus.

These days producing a vinyl release can be a daunting and costly process, but there are still a few stalwarts who are keeping vinyl alive for those who still crave a physical copy. 7th Storey Projects have come up with another outstanding EP following on from their DJ Excel 'Just When You Thought It Was Safe EP', 'The Dark Arts Volume 1' brings on board Demonic Possessions Recordings darkside don, FX. The originator of the Hardcore Will Never Die label, DJ Fav, Wellbelove AKA Dom Fripp of Chaos & Julia Set fame and Antipodean breaks connoisseur Worldwide Epidemic.

As underlined by the EP's title, all tracks are on a 1993, dark tip with a firm focus on the jungle tekno styling's of that era. FX's 'Dark Places' follows on from his 'Demonic Possessions Vols 1 & 2' on his own label, with a mental barrage of rough, chopped up breaks, ominous bass growls and modern horror movie quotes to keep you guessing where that sample came from.

'Soul Survivor' tricks you into thinking it's just going to be an all out amen fest (it does have amens aplenty by the way), but then throws them in the blender with a gentle techno melody. It still keeps things moody with brooding strings and razor sharp mentasm riffs.

The pitch black 'Immortal' from Wellbelove is quite possibly the darkest track I've heard in a while, focussing more on moody atmospherics rather than hammering breaks. It has a very cinematic feel to it, as well as having hoover stabs which sound like a nest of angry bees.

Last up, Worldwide Epidemic unleashes his 'Ruler Of Olympus' track, which to put it simply, sounds like an unearthed Basement Records/Sound Entity/Smooth Recordings from their 1993-1994 heyday. It has the jungle tekno style nailed with the use of crisp breakbeats, pumping bass and techno melodies.

4 tracks following a dark hardcore agenda, but all unique in their own ways. If you're a vinyl hardcore/jungle supporter then this is highly recommended and available from 7th Storey Projects themselves for a very reasonable £7.99 (excluding P+p)
