Viral-Mental Records are back on schedule to bring you another selection of deep and dark drum & bass cuts with the release of Inphekt's mammoth eight track 'Something Sinister' EP destined to do some serious dancefloor damage.

Opening the EP we are instantly plunged into the cavernous intro of 'The Beast', an epic deep tech-step number layered with pitch black atmosphere, spine-tingling trance-style riffs and hard-as-nails D&B breaks. More darkness commences with the heavyweight, neurofunk stepper, 'In To The Shadows' before we are introduced to Inphekt's haunting drum & bass reinterpretation of US, Neo-Goth Rock band, Sins Of The Siren's 'Ghost of Me'. 

We are inflicted with punishing neuro bassline pressure on 'Fallen Stars' next with it's combination of  twisted, Reese snarls and rock solid 2-step breakbeats. Title track, 'Something Sinister' lays down a complex series of intricately shifting beats and percussive elements which mutates from lurching half-speed BPMs to full-pelt D&B tempos on the switch up. Definitely one to check out if you love your dark, yet expertly crafted, sci-fi beats. 

The final trio of darkside drum & bass begins with the menacing, futuristic tones of 'Old Dark', an apocalyptic stepper crammed full of dense atmospherics and industrial beats. 'Filthy Fresh'  takes things on a more dancefloor orientated direction, yet still maintains the hard-hitting impact of it's predecessors before we reach the EPs conclusion by the ominous 'Off Key', a track steeped in otherworldly swells and dirges set to a relentless, stepping breakbeat and off-kilter, pitch-shifting drum-hits.

Inphekt proves once again that he is the master of sci-fi darkness with this epic collection of neurofunk gems. The 'Something Sinister' EP will prove be an essential addition to any fanatic of the darker side of D&B!!!
