Innercore returns with two new Vinyl EPs

 

The established series of Innercore Project EPs is back once again credited to the connoisseur by the name Innercore whose mission is to renovate the Oldskool Hardcore Breakbeat.

During this summertime his personal 'Volume 4' has officially landed...
It's fresh and it's comprised of two total smashers. First off, 'The Calling' is a quintessential example of how to ramble with modern techniques throughout the Oldskool ethos. A tune that's led by big synths in conjuction with the female vox bits.

A key moment of this track that's unbeaten.

On the 'Info Side' we got 'E Sense', a tune on which the producer recalls the early days of Formation Records and that's spot on. Slaughtering breaks, deep bass with a bit of '93 esteem.

Beat Jugglers Are Out Out

DJ Tech, JJW, Mad Mick, Phil Earle and Nikki Neon are better known to the world as, Beat Jugglers.

This 5-piece UK band was born out of the nostalgic love for the Oldskool ethos, bringing fresh ideas and a new uplifting vibe live and direct on stage.
And to be honest, this formula of success is basically a company of good friends, moreover a team of musicians with a great backdrop. The freeparty legendary DJ Tech (a.k.a. The Tribaleditor) meets a classically trained pianist (i.e. JJW) and they join forces with Rising High Records veteran Phil Earle, the (Guru Josh 'Infinity') saxophonist Mad Mick and the hi-nrg dominant vocals of Nikki Neon. In addition, there's also the Dusty Boot dance crew joining the stage to resonate the dancing stage.

This summer, Beat Jugglers release their first full-length album.

"Well, what a year and more it has been for the whole planet.. With the world on its knees, we really needed a focus to get us through these dark times..So we decided to try and make an album via the net only. We didn't have much experience with Zoom before the lockdown, but we thought it was possible to, so we gave it a go.

Normally a Juggler studio sesh comprises of all of us meeting ether around mine or JJW's, and these sessions would last between 6-8 hours with always JJW supplying refreshments and food, so to go from that to 2-3 hour sessions on Zoom was a massive undertaking we thought, but possible, and to be honest it worked out just fine in the end, and to be honest we were almost 3 times more productive on zoom sessions. Probably because of not stopping for food breaks ect.. We just loaded up with snacks and coffee (well i did)..  Amazingly, we have ended up with a finished album ready to drop the day lockdown ends in the UK. The timing for this was decided because the bulk of the album was conceived after the start of lockdown, with the exception of the first 2 and the last tune, so we called the album 'Beat Jugglers Are Out-Out' We plan to be "out-out" doing our bit to put smiles on faces and get some dust in the air."

Beat Jugglers debut album is comprised of nine tracks, specifically their top nine highlight bangers that represent the authentic Beat Juggler.
Tracks like 'Raves Like This'; it is the first ever official release and it sums up the right blend of pounding Techno, big pianos, sax and dreamy vocals. However there are also some outstanding collaborations inside. For instance, the legendary MC Evenson Allen from RatPack making his first guest appearance out of his RatPack action.

'Better Days' and 'Vibezin' are two of the tracks that Evenson goes with the flow of the energy and adds his personal twist as usual. 'Do It Like That' finds him next to Chicago's pioneer Fast Eddie, well known of his Hip House days and anthems such as 'Acid Thunder'.

Also, there's Poetic Sun on the album's self-titled progressive eurohouse inspired track 'Out Out' and last but not least the man like Natty Campbell, member of Reggae Roast Sound System, who's involved in one of the strongest D&B/Junglistic weapons of this record. A remarkable riddim juggling into beats. A ruff perfection.

"This 9 track album sees a convergence of dance styles from ripping, acid fuel trance techno, hands in the air anthemic DnB, to rough tuff vintage jungle and a cauldron of 90s rave nostalgia. Beat Jugglers have been sharing their unique blend of live dance music at festivals across the country and are raring to tour their new album as soon as the lockdown ends."

DJ X-cess returns to Burning Bush Communications after 25 years!

The year 1996, DJ X-cess has collaborated with DJ Fade delivering an amazing 2-track EP on Burning Bush Communications. 'Feel The Rain' was one of those superb stompy Hardcore tracks of the label, something that would be an omen to the future...
Today, 25 years after this release, DJ X-cess (a.k.a. Matthew Harris) has returned to the same label with some new music! And why not... Things have changed; have evolved and there's an outstanding new breed of Hardcore out there with new ideas,labels and artists.

Book recommendation:: 'RIOT' by Stephen Jaydell

'RIOT' is is set in London in 1981, the summer we remember the Brixton Riots, and loosely based on real-life event. Amazon would call it “fact-based-fiction”.

'RIOT' is the eagerly anticipated pre-qual to the critically acclaimed 'RAVER' released last summer. 'RIOT' follows three inter-linked stories leading towards the night that changed England forever, the 1981 Brixton Riots.

We follow Devon, (hero/anti-hero from the 'RAVER' book), a mid-twenties part time scrap-yard worker and casual drug dealer who lives for dub reggae, nightclubs and girls, while avoiding the attentions of National Front anarchists. Ducking and diving his way through the south London underworld we see him inadvertently turning police informant on a city-slicker, white-boy-wanna-be-gangster, kicking off devastating chain of events.

We also follow John, a Cambridge graduate and recently graduated Police Officer who, after completing his policing course at Hendon, is mysteriously promoted and immediately posted to Lambeth Division. Tasked with resolving the growing ‘community issues’ in Brixton, he wrestles with the culture of the Metropolitan Police and machinery of Government and his own social construct. He discovers the inter-connected influences that would eventually result in the deployment of a stop and search strategy known as Swamp ’81, and eventually the largest and most devastating outbreak of public disorder the UK has ever seen.

Lastly, we follow Devon’s teenager brother, Marlon, struggling with girls, growing up, (fast), and fighting with rival gangs. His failed attempt at settling a long-running feud with a neighbouring gang ends with him fearing for his victim’s life and his own future. On the eve of the riot, his victim returns with horrific consequences.

If you remember seeing the riots on TV, or if you have watched any footage on Youtube, the story will definitely resonate with you. The soundtrack, (yes, as in 'RAVER', it has an iconic soundtrack), is a heady mix of dub-reggae, new romantics and ska.

Although based on real life events, (some very gruesome!). 'RIOT' is a story about life, and what it was like to grow up in London during the 1980s, which was awesome, but also overwhelming (personally I was 10 years old when the riots kicked off). Coming out if the 1970s, the 80s was a time of violent protest, or standing up for ourselves and fighting against the political elite, it was also a time when electronic music was created and hit the main-stream, giving rise to house, techno, drum and bass and hardcore – it was indeed a time for massive change.

'RIOT' is available on Amazon right now as a paperback and also Kindle.

The third book in this trilogy is called 'YUPPIE' and is set 5 years after 'RAVER' in 1994 New York City and follows the post-rave journey of Paul Devons best friend who features in both 'RAVER' and also 'RIOT', as he develops his career in high finance with money, women, money, hip-hop, money, sex-clubs, money and lots and lots and lots of crack cocaine.

'YUPPIE' will be released later in the summer.

Introducing:: NICE1TOM (UK)

NICE1TOM is one of those DJs that you should definetely add to your schedule. His show are always full of energy as well as his Hardcore which is adjusted to the evolution of this sound.
Based in Leeds, Tom was raised with The Prodigy sound on his way to football matches as his father claimed that it was the most appropriate soundtrack to get mental inside the game. Getting obsessed with music since his teen years, Tom got instantly infected with the unique Hardcore Rave vibe.

"During my early university years I began playing out House music for parties and club nights in which I dabbled in playing out my own productions which I'd clumsily assembled on garageband. Funnily enough as rough and raw as these tunes were, to my surprise I received great reactions on the floor, which spurred me on to dedicate myself further into music."

After all these great experiments productionwise, it was a matter of time to get his first official release. A single which came out in late 2020 by the name 'Freq!'; a title which can be seen in the description in all of his pages throughout network. A son of energy who has travelled beyond genres and has now find his own Promise land into Hardcore Rave.

 

"During this time my music taste really diversified, I had become quite removed from the tedious 8 bar loop 4/4 House that I had been surrounding myself with for the past couple of years and yearned to play more eclectic sets. I had always been into Punk and MC's since my early teens, a regular at local punk gigs in Manchester and Liverpool. when I started looking elsewhere for Dance music inspiration I think this quintasessitally british kind of raw ‘no fucks, do what I want’ musical attitude lead my in the direction of Breakbeat Hardcore and Jungle."

"This all aligned perfectly with my absolute disdain for the current nightclubs I was frequenting, in which scowly lads would stomp on one spot nodding their head and everyone was up recording drops on their phone. The rave scene provided that freedom and unity that i wanted from live dance music and more importantly... people actually danced!!!"

The essential History of Jungle/Drum & Bass on a new book by Velocity Press

UK's hard working publishing independent company in music books, Velocity Press, have just announced that they aim to publish six books this year, having already lined up the first two. So, their first installment of 2021 is called 'Who Say Reload' and it's specified on the essential history of Jungle and Drum & Bass including exclusive words by Goldie, DJ Hype, Roni Size, Andy C, 4 Hero. Plenty of interviews credited to Paul Terzulli, who's the author of this new book, analysing also the influences, equipment,samples that took this movement to the top with the amazing contribution of legendary Artists and apparently great records that hold still a golden value.

Photography is provided by Eddie Otchere who has an extensive archive of images, having been the photographer at Goldie’s seminal Metalheadz nights. His previously unseen visuals capture the essence of the music in a way that only someone who was fully immersed in the culture at the time could, and are the perfect accompaniment to the story being told.
