Get the debut 12" Vinyl EP by Phoenix Breaks Records

Always a pleasure when there are new labels arriving in the wonderful world of Hardcore Breaks. Or even better, rising up...

M-Bass is the main man that we should focus as additionally to his DJing and rave passion since the early 90s, he is into the modern era of so-called Nu-Rave. He met DJ Nee in the mid 00s, the golden era of Hardcore Breaks; a proper introduction productionwise. Then he did some releases, co-owned Pitch Control Records with DJ Trix till we reach last year when Phoenix Breaks was conceived.
The name of his new physical label.

"The whole aim with the label is to bring a new world of talent into our rave music scene and put new tunes out on vinyl. I feel that records are a very important part of the scene and although digital content is convenient and cheaper, it can be lost whereas with a physical format there's less chance of that happening, so I wanted the label to be a physical format label from the get go. Musically speaking you can expect hardcore breaks, jungle and drum & bass - all made in that traditional 90's style and true to the sound." - Matt recalls.
The debut EP is called 'The Rising' and comes out strictly on limited Vinyl. It includes 4 tracks in total and our personal highlight is a remarkable collaboration between the label manager, M-Bass and the mighty DJ Nee - something that could remind your a bit of the essential mid-00s eruption of Hardcore Breaks. "The tune with Nee is actually an old one. I met Neil in 2005 on the B2VOS forum. At this time I wasn't making music, just playing it. At this time, Hardcore Breaks was in its infancy but was blowing up big time. I asked on the forum about production and Nee very kindly offered to show me the ropes. He spent literally hours on the phone to me teaching me how to use the software, and so on. All this lead up to me asking him if he'd like to make a track together and so that's what happened." - says Matt about his first contact with the mighty Nee.
'Floor Burner' was made way back in 2007 and was supposed to be on my previous label which fell through. I lost the original files for the track after that when my hard drive died and so nothing ever happened with it. Fast forward to 2021 and I started Phoenix Breaks. I asked Nee if he still had the original master and after a few days of him looking on old hard drives, he found it. So that's the story really, the track is 15 years old now so it's amazing for it to finally see a vinyl release. I think it's a pretty cool sounding tune."

And what about the next steps of Phoenix Breaks? Time will tell about the future stuff, going against all odds on what's happening now with the pressing issues.

"The aim for the future is to be consistent with releases. At the moment, the record industry is a different one to how it was before Coronavirus hit the world. As you know, pressing times now are delayed by months and months so all the labels are at the mercy of the pressing plants, which are overrun currently. If we can manage it, we would like to do at least two releases a year and in previous times this would have been possible, but as I said - we are at the mercy of the plants. The next release is ready, and as soon as we've shifted some more of the first EP then we will go to press. For the next EP you can expect some very dark vibes. And when I say dark, I mean DARK!" - adds Matt about the files of his own imprint.

'The Rising' EP is worth every single penny, furthermore it's a pretty good addition to your collection of Nuskool Hardcore. There are still some copies of it available on the link below, just hurry up, before it's too late.

'Tear My Heart':: The new 12" record by Club Glow

Let's focus on Club Glow.

Call it a label or rave night; it's something extraordinary to draw your attention and gain your support. You can tell that it's actually the result of the new breed of rave hailing from different places and music cultures such as Sheffield, Bristol and London. In simple words, one of the UK's finest and brightest crews at present.

The team consists of Borai, Denham Audio, Mani Festo and LMajor who's the key player to launch their first release for 2022. London based producer, DJ, one half of Local Group and essential stalwart of the Club Glow collective, the man like LMajor is working his socks off the last couple of years and a good row of tracks have shown the safe way to this great new record.

'Tear My Heart' EP reminisces the good old days of 1992, as noteworthy to mention that this year we're running the 30th anniversary of the UK Breakbeat Hardcore eruption. A sound that's still resilient and you can simply have a listen to this impeccable 4-tracker of freshness in case you're at crossroads.

We're dealing with the third 12" Vinyl release from the Club Glow imprint and it's a fair introduction to this '92 contemporary revival. A great amount of infinite breakbeats all around will tear your heart from happiness. In addition to that, the title track is known off the Club Glow takeover shows on Balamii Radio - fans that stand next to this gang are already aware of this aspiring new dish.
Also, not to sit out on tracks like 'Energy', that's premiered through DJ Mag Soundcloud page. Drawing on sample vox from Cutback and Federal’s ‘Rock To The Rhythm’ coming among his dominant rave stabs, LMajor has put the greatest highlight of this record in our humble perspective. And there's even a great collab between himself and Decibella joining forces for a heavyweight and hot breakage.

'Tear My Heart' EP is out on 4th February via Bandcamp and selected physical stores.

Four Jacks Vol.2 [12" Vinyl & Digital]

If there could be any last signature of the successful Hardcore-ish 2021, be it with this record..

In days of instability, the creativity within the scene has never failed productionwise.
A great example is the South Londoner DJ and producer, Boca, who has returned with an ultimate new arsenal of dark slams. And to be precise, the second installment of Four Jacks is arguably the strongest ever release by this great talent.
Loads of emotions floating around when you play this record. Boca is one of those artists that can easily capture the ecstatic vibe of British Breakbeat Hardcore. Hands down!

It's an ode to the darkness with massive breakbeats and rave stabs, as it speaks deep inside your soul. We cannot set any higlight track from these 3 big hardcore breaks plus the good surprise of 'Cracked Kids' burst on a Juke/Footwork style. On the latter, he experiments on a style that's been on the front of the underground and you should be aware of that.
The 'Four Jacks 002' Vinyl EP, evocates the best times of the oldskool and the vibe is so intensive that will set up an optimistic new year, which is the 30th anniversary of British Breakbeat Hardcore.

All in all, we're very honoured and delighted getting records like this one and spinning tracks like these. 'Four Jacks 002' is available on a limited run of 12" Vinyl plus digitals on the link above and soon in other major stores. Worth every single penny to this great label.
