Get the debut 12" Vinyl EP by Phoenix Breaks Records

Always a pleasure when there are new labels arriving in the wonderful world of Hardcore Breaks. Or even better, rising up...

M-Bass is the main man that we should focus as additionally to his DJing and rave passion since the early 90s, he is into the modern era of so-called Nu-Rave. He met DJ Nee in the mid 00s, the golden era of Hardcore Breaks; a proper introduction productionwise. Then he did some releases, co-owned Pitch Control Records with DJ Trix till we reach last year when Phoenix Breaks was conceived.
The name of his new physical label.

"The whole aim with the label is to bring a new world of talent into our rave music scene and put new tunes out on vinyl. I feel that records are a very important part of the scene and although digital content is convenient and cheaper, it can be lost whereas with a physical format there's less chance of that happening, so I wanted the label to be a physical format label from the get go. Musically speaking you can expect hardcore breaks, jungle and drum & bass - all made in that traditional 90's style and true to the sound." - Matt recalls.
The debut EP is called 'The Rising' and comes out strictly on limited Vinyl. It includes 4 tracks in total and our personal highlight is a remarkable collaboration between the label manager, M-Bass and the mighty DJ Nee - something that could remind your a bit of the essential mid-00s eruption of Hardcore Breaks. "The tune with Nee is actually an old one. I met Neil in 2005 on the B2VOS forum. At this time I wasn't making music, just playing it. At this time, Hardcore Breaks was in its infancy but was blowing up big time. I asked on the forum about production and Nee very kindly offered to show me the ropes. He spent literally hours on the phone to me teaching me how to use the software, and so on. All this lead up to me asking him if he'd like to make a track together and so that's what happened." - says Matt about his first contact with the mighty Nee.
'Floor Burner' was made way back in 2007 and was supposed to be on my previous label which fell through. I lost the original files for the track after that when my hard drive died and so nothing ever happened with it. Fast forward to 2021 and I started Phoenix Breaks. I asked Nee if he still had the original master and after a few days of him looking on old hard drives, he found it. So that's the story really, the track is 15 years old now so it's amazing for it to finally see a vinyl release. I think it's a pretty cool sounding tune."

And what about the next steps of Phoenix Breaks? Time will tell about the future stuff, going against all odds on what's happening now with the pressing issues.

"The aim for the future is to be consistent with releases. At the moment, the record industry is a different one to how it was before Coronavirus hit the world. As you know, pressing times now are delayed by months and months so all the labels are at the mercy of the pressing plants, which are overrun currently. If we can manage it, we would like to do at least two releases a year and in previous times this would have been possible, but as I said - we are at the mercy of the plants. The next release is ready, and as soon as we've shifted some more of the first EP then we will go to press. For the next EP you can expect some very dark vibes. And when I say dark, I mean DARK!" - adds Matt about the files of his own imprint.

'The Rising' EP is worth every single penny, furthermore it's a pretty good addition to your collection of Nuskool Hardcore. There are still some copies of it available on the link below, just hurry up, before it's too late.
