D - Rainham Nights.
This February sees Redshift & DJ Problem Child make a welcome return to Silent Force Recordings, and while their previous release saw the production duo delve into the realms of pitch black tech-step, 'Failsafes / Rainham Nights' sees them takes us on an excursion into the deeper side of drum and bass.
Opening track 'Failsafes' lays down a precision crafted fusion of floating, luscious pads and jazzy elements, which are in turn contrasted by heavy, stepping breakbeats, dissonant synth drones and deep bass notes to create a potent slice of futuristic jazzstep.
Following on from it's predecessor, 'Rainham Nights' takes us on a more experimental, drum & bass tip with it's use of spine-tingling, soaring pads, off kilter, percussive melodies and powerful bassline, all set to a flurry of intricately layered amen breaks.
It is clear from the outset that Redshift & DJ Problem Child have taken notes from the mid-nineties Golden Age of deep drum & bass. I'm talking about vintage Photek, Source Direct and Digital here. If you like your D&B with a bit of depth to it, then do your collection a favour and treat yourself to a copy of this one!!!
The Redshift & DJ Problem Child 'Failsafes / Rainham Nights' 12" vinyl is available to purchase now from the Silent Force Recordings Bandcamp page for £9.99 plus postage & packaging. Quantities are limited to only 200 copies and also include a free digital copy. Digital versions are also available to purchase for only £2.00.
