Ever since the inception of the hardcore breaks scene in the early noughties, Poland's DJ Nefti has played a pivotal role in the scene's evolution as both a DJ, a producer and owner of legendary nuskool label, Intensive Recordings. To celebrate fifteen years in the scene, Nefti presents his '15 Years Anniversary Album' which delivers twelve upfront, nuskool breakbeat hardcore anthems fresh for 2016.
We are first presented with a clash of the rough and smooth elements with opening track, 'The Game', which delivers a deceptively soothing and euphoric introduction which soon descends into an exhilarating combination of rolling amen breaks and deep bass notes. 'Desire VIP' which follows next takes 2011's original recipe and gives it a heavyweight, moody bass driven breaks remake for 2016 before we are introduced to the rugged breaks and bass track 'Winner', perfectly complimented by songstress Domi's vocals.
'Let It Be Me' takes us on an uplifting, piano-led, nuskool breakbeat journey and is soon joined by Nefti's collaboration with vocalist Sheila on the 'Cover Me VIP Mix', where it receives a massive oldskool, stab heavy re-lick. 'Medicine' up next drops a series of energetic, upfront riffs over rock-solid beats and helium-pitched vocals to recreate that happy vibe. The immensely uplifting, 'Taking Me High (VIP Mix)' follows next and combines growling bass tones and stepping beats with hands-in-the-air pianos while Domi's vocals return once more on the oldskool themed 'Show You Something'.
Nefti showcases a trio of genre-spanning remixes, starting with his euphoric re-interpretation of Oneplayz and Martyna Siermińsk's vocal, rave-breaks classic 'Feel It' and Warehouse Wax's E-Lab Rat who sees his 'Uplifting Tip' receive an oldskool revamp. The soulful grooves of the 'Hold Me Endless (Nefti Remix)' takes Sanxion on a melancholic breaks and 'Landlord' piano stab trip before Nefti has the favour returned with a huge dubstep/breakbeat makeover of the 'Cyborg (Sanxion Remix)' to bookend the album perfectly.
