Boomsha Recordings are back again with another fine selection of sublime, future jungle cuts from frequent label contributor, Schoco, who presents his brand new 'Thoughts EP' featuring vocal contributions from Sam Serenader and Loudspeka and a mighty remix from the Sound Shifter.
The 'Thoughts EP' opens with the epic, vocal drum & bass future-anthem, 'Freedom Dont Cost', which sees vocalist Sam Serenader lend her distinctively emotive voice to Schoco's snappy breaks, sweeping strings and a gentle melodic bassline, which you just can't help but get drawn in by. Sam returns again with the contemplative 'Believe' up next. Combining gloriously sweeping, atmospheric pads and gentle chiming notes backed by a rugged future jungle, breakbeat pattern, 'Believe's message of positively shines through both lyrically and musically.
'Second Depression' kicks off the second half with it's beautifully crafted blend of melancholic melodies and flow of consciousness freestyling from spoken word artist Loudspeka, underpinned by a solid 140 bpm breakbeat pattern. The EP is brought to a close by Sound Shifter's future jungle remix of 'Freedom Dont Cost', which fuses the original's lush atmospherics with an intense Apache break backing and a dark, warped bassline complimented by flashes of mentasm stab screeches to create a perfect balance of light and dark touches.
