[KLPR005] DJ Monk - Stick Em Up / Gimmie Some More - Part 1 / Get Raw [Available To Purchase Now From KLP Records!!!]

A - Stick Em Up.
B1 - Gimmie Some More - Part 1.
B2 - Get Raw.

After a slew of rock solid, contemporary jungle, digital releases, DJ Monk takes another look into the K.L.P. Records D.A.T. archives to unleash another selection of Golden Age, mid-nineties jungle for the vinyl massive. Rewinding back to 1994-1995, DJ Monk presents his latest limited edition, three-track 12" single 'Stick Em Up / Gimmie Some More - Part 1 / Get Raw'.

The EP opens to some ruffneck, gangstadelic junglism with the Paris sampling 'Stick Em Up', a track which effortlessly fuses together a rugged Think and Amen break percussive backing with a head-nodding bassline, rugged rap retorts and soulful female sighs to devastating effect.

Up next we are introduced to the jazzy, saxophone led opening notes of 'Gimmie Some More - Part 1', which soon mutates into a tear-out, amen roller packed full of iconic oldskool female vox flavoured with turntablist scratch FX

The collection is brought to a close by 'Get Raw', a track packed full of scuttling breaks, massive Reese bass notes and Big Daddy Kane's no-nosense rap vocalisms to create a perfect marriage between rave culture and East Coast rap.

If the turning point from ragga junglism to rap flavoured, dancefloor orientated  jump-up brings back fond memories to you, then you cannot pass up on this piece of K.L.P. Records jungle history.

DJ Monk's 'Stick Em Up / Gimmie Some More - Part 1 / Get Raw' Limited Edition 12" single is available to pre-order now from the official KLP Records Bandcamp page for £11.99 (plus postage & packaging).

[KVA006 / PARA001] On 1 Crew - On 1 Crew EP [Unreleased Oldskool 12" Vinyl Available To Pre-Order Now!!!]

A1 - Bad Dreams. (1993)
A2 - Bad Dreams (The Lost & Found Remix). (1993 Unreleased)
B1 - Dreams Of Java (Different Story). (1994 Unreleased)
B2 - Looking 4 Love. (1995 Unreleased)

Ever since ravers were first teased with exclusive dubplate mixes and low pressed rarities, there has been a huger for fans of breakbeat hardcore, jungle and drum & bass to identify and track down these rarities. Now more than twenty years on from the Golden Era of hardcore and jungle, those lost classics are now even more sought after. Thankfully, due to the endeavors of labels such as Keeping Vinyl Alive in collaboration with Parallax Recordings, these seemingly lost in time, oldskool gems now get their chance to get their chance to shine.

For Keeping Vinyl Alive's sixth release in conjunction with brand new official, rare and unreleased oldskool hardcore, jungle and drum & bass label, Parallax Recordings, the two labels present the On 1 Crew's 'On 1 Crew EP'.

Opening with the LTJ Bukem caned 'Bad Dreams', a hugely atmospheric 1993 hardcore/jungle track which appeared on the elusive 'Let Em Ave It EP' on Bump Records and features the now infamous Newt from 'Aliens' dialogue sample. The 'On 1 Crew EP' then introduces the first of three previously unreleased tracks, starting with 'Bad Dreams (The Lost & Found Remix)', also from 1993, which introduces more junglistic elements to the mix with it's darker opening section and focus on rugged, stepping breaks, to create an excellent alternative version to the original.

1994's 'Dreams Of Java (Different Story)' takes us into deep jungle territory, by combining lush soaring pads, rattling breakbeat percussion, booming bass alongside classic Candi Staton vocals. 'Looking 4 Love', from 1995 closes the EP in an equally atmospheric fashion fusing sweeping, jazzy synths over a restrained, stepping break and soothingly seductive female vocals.

The 'On 1 Crew EP' lovingly collects together one lost classic from yesteryear alongside three previously unheard and unreleased tracks to get any vintage jungle enthusiast frothing at the mouth. As well as proving to be a taster of what is yet to come from the two officially licensed, oldskool repress labels Keeping Vinyl Alive and Parallax Recordings.

The On 1 Crew 'On 1 Crew EP' has been remastered from the origianl D.A.T. recordings by the legendary Beau Thomas and Ten Eight Seven Mastering and Cutting services, and is available to pre-order now for the price of £10 (plus postage & packaging) from the Keeping Vinyl Alive webstore via the link below, with an expected release date of January 2016. So get your orders in to get your hands on some ultra rare and unreleased pieces of jungle history!!!

[KLPR004] DJ Monk - Hold Me / Dreams [Unreleased Oldskool Jungle - Available In Digital And Limited 12" Vinyl Formats Now!!!]

1/ Hold Me.
2/ Dreams.

Jungle veteran DJ Monk has dug into his DAT collation once more to unearth two more unreleased and remastered KLP Records jungle gems, circa '94-'95.

The bouncy basslined 'Hold Me' kicks off the proceedings with a chunky, stepping break interspersed with rolling amen edits accompanied by a combination of rugged rap and soulful R&B samples to create a classy slab of jump-up jungle.
'Dreams' opens with languid, jazzy guitar licks and seductive female vocals on the intro before dropping a massive, hard-stepping breakbeat pattern peppered with choice Public Enemy samples and an all enveloping, booming bass-throb melody to the mix.

Despite the term 'jump-up' receiving a lot of negative commentary from some of the more chin-strokey members of the Jungle/D&B communities, DJ Monk's 'Hold Me / Dreams' shows exactly why such well-crafted jump-up was such a huge success in terms of creating dancefloor devastation back in it's 1995-1997 hey-day, and deserves the attention that other elevated forms of high BPM breakbeat based music receive.

DJ Monk's 'Hold Me / Dreams' is available to purchase now in a variety of digital formats from the KLP Records Bandcamp page...
