For anyone with even a passing knowledge of electronic music, Mark Archer's genre-spanning musical influence will have made it's mark from his early outings as member of Nexus 21, DJ Nex, Altern 8 and Slo Moshun to his more recent excursions into nuskool acid house, techno and future jungle. For his latest vinyl only outing, Mark Archer under his DJ Nex alter ego takes us back to the heady days of rave with the release of the 'Your Love / E.F.F.E.C.T. (DLR Underground Mix)' single, featuring two unrelentingly euphoric slices of breakbeat hardcore.

DJ Nex digs deep into his D.A.T. vaults to uncover and re-master the previously unreleased 1992 track, 'Your Love' an unashamedly euphoric slice of loved up oldskool goodness chock full of ecstatic female vocals, pumping basslines and heavyweight breakbeats that'll get you digging out the white gloves, air horns and glowsticks.
The flipside sees brand new track, 'E.F.F.E.C.T. (DLR Underground Mix)' rip up the soundsystem in a proper oldskool style and fashion, combining classic hip-hop vocals with an electrifying, hands-in-the-air stab riff, dubwise bass pattern and shuffling drum-breaks. Despite it's 2016 release date, 'E.F.F.E.C.T.' is all out early nineties hardcore at it's heart.

First off we have Ilk who takes us back to the mid nineties with the menacing ‘We Don’t Know’. Where rugged, hardstep breaks layered with ruffneck gangsta rap vocals and heavyweight bass tones ruled the jungle. This one’s not for the lightweight junglist.
Keezee’s ‘Burst Into Fire’ presents us with an intense combination of rolling Amens and Apache breaks accentuated by heavenly, soaring strings and an infectious, booming bassline melody. Perfectly capturing the vintage vibes of a certain drum & bass ‘Headz’ label.

Bonus track, ‘Fang & Claw’ by Necrotype delivers an eerie synth intro peppered with lycanthropic horror flick samples before unleashing a barrage of layered and FX-ed amen breaks, growling mentasm stabs and subsonic bass booms. A masterful piece of neo-darkcore, junglism.

'RZ Remixes Vol 1' sees Hailon and Junglistic from 'Rollerz Vol 1' receive drastic overhauls from two talented newcomers to the label, Threts and X Nation.

Hailon’s ‘Dub Warz’ is first up to gets the remix treatment from the first of two of Brighton's finest jungle producers Threts, who mashes up the classic dub skank of the original and throws it down over a pounding 2-step, D&B break and techy bass growl to create a menacing combination of dirty jungle and razor sharp drum & bass.

On the flipside, X Nation provides an epic and intense overhaul of Junglistic’s ‘Who Is It’, by merging the G-Funk and hip-hop flavour of  the original mix with thundering, junglistic amen break edits and rumbling bass manipulations that would put Dillinja to shame. An epic revisioning with devastating dancefloor capability.

All in all, two modern jungle classic are given two solid makeovers to satisfy the needs of even the most jaded jungle head. You need this in your jungle collection!!!

A new year begins and DJ Monk begins the vinyl onslaught of 2015 with his second K.L.P Records, vault digging vinyl release. This time unearthing two more unreleased dubplate specials from 1994-1995, remastered from DJ Monk's personal D.A.T.s and pressed onto 180 gram black vinyl for a limited 100 copy vinyl only release.

 

Opening with the moody amen roller 'Deal Wid It Part 2 (Sekkle)' on the A-Side, the follow up to last years massive lost jungle reissue 'Deal Wid It (Pt 1)'. 'Part 2' features ragga chatting and aggressive movie dialogue (from Steven Segal action flick 'Marked For Death'?) for the screwfaced massives. Jungle for the non faint hearted.

 

The bass heavy stepper, 'Roll On' features on the flipside with a lush G-Funk opening section and restrained breaks overlaid with a warm, enveloping bass and scattered with vinyl scratching effects. A real head-nodding anthem if ever there was.
