The ever prolific Billy No Mates is back again with this great new EP forthcoming on HC Recordings. First we have 'Torn Up' a nice deep roller reminiscent of what LTJ Bukem would churn out in the mid 90s, a nice slice of skittish breakbeats accompanied by a swirling pad full of atmospheric goodness and upliftment gives this a distinct edge.
We move into 'Peaking In Tongues' a slightly tougher roller with a darker edge, a change up in drums and a nicely executed rumbly bassline to caress the tune. The track really does take you onto another type of level from 'Torn Up' thus giving the listener a deeper spectrum of the scene.
'Speed Of Dark' rounds off the EP nicely with another onslaught of broken breakbeats thrust at you in a shower of musical eargasm. Once again the skittish beats keep this bouncing along nicely with a great bassline, stab effects and the fast pace BPM's raise the level just when you are ready for more.
All in all a great EP which needs to be in your collection, it is released on 21st December so keep your eyes and ears peeled to HC Recordings for info on how you can buy this.

Gareth Monks - Rock This Mofo (Kode 5 Recordings)
Think of early 90s Prodigy, think of all that energy and power they had in their music, think of how rough tough and ready they sounded. This new monster from Gareth Monks titled 'Rock This Mofo' has all the workings of such a beast! a massive fat slab of hardcore shoved in a melting pot of gold and churned out into what can only be described as something you need to own!. Bringing the vibe hardcore style is what is needed to keep the genre from going stale, this is the track to give it that kick in the pants and jolt in the right direction. Gareth knows how to work a great track and once again he delivers the goods, don your white gloves and chemical warfare suits 'cos its time to get RAVEY!

[SNBEP013] Strictly Nuskool Blog pres. DJ Rave In Peace - Veni Vidi Furere EP (2015)
DJ Rave In Peace has the word about his personal 6track EP, which is the 13th release in total from the Strictly Nuskool Blog - available on free download.
"Veni, Vidi, Furere....I Came, I Saw, I Raved!
Its difficult for me to explain this ep, I could so easily have called it "musical meanderings of a random mind" which would be fairly accurate as that pretty much sums up my music making process...i.e there is no process! Essentially it contains 3 tracks made back around 2007/8 which I have refreshed & then 3 brand new tracks made especially for this release.
They all revolve around oldskool beats and breaks and, whilst 2 of the tracks are in the "oldskool stab fest" vein, I also wanted to include tunes which approach the genre from a different direction. I never set out with a particular style or emotion in mind, pretty much all of my tunes are the result of playing around with different sounds and samples until something goes "click" and then the track builds from there.
I could, and probably would, waffle on for ages about each track, but I will instead let you discover them for yourselves. Download, listen and, hopefully, enjoy!
