Dev/Null - Lennie De Ice Tribute Mix (BTTO Radio December 15th 2024)

Dev/Null

The music world has been mourning the loss of Lennie De Ice, the influential British producer whose groundbreaking record 'We Are IE', laid the foundation for the jungle genre in the 1990s. Lennie, born Lenworth Green in London, leaves behind a legacy that resonates deeply within the electronic music community.
Tributes have been pouring in across the network, but one, in particular, stands out and deserves to be shared widely. It’s a fresh mix from the talented Dev/Null, paying homage to the remarkable production arsenal of Lennie De Ice - a heartfelt celebration of the sounds that changed the game.

"Big RIP to Lennie De Ice, a wicked producer!
Here's a tribute mix I did to Lennie on BTTO Radio Sunday December 15th, featuring all his hc/jungle releases 92-95. I rerecorded it to get rid of the radio chatter/shouts, and to add five comp tracks at the end I couldn't fit into the original hour." - Dev/Null

Ben Evers FM Never Hurts (incl. Maruwa remix)

Ben Evers has firmly established himself as one of 2024’s most exciting talents in electronic music. This year, he launched his own label with three remarkable releases while continuing to deliver his signature grooves on Live At Robert Johnson. Already well-known as one half of the underground duo Adana Twins, Evers is proving he has plenty to offer as a solo artist. His work spans the house spectrum, with tracks landing on respected labels like Permanent Vacation and Correspondant.

His latest single, "FM Never Hurts," is a full-bodied house anthem laced with old-school rawness. Dusty breakbeats punctuate the breakdown, while rapped vocals ride confidently over driving electronic drums. Trance-tinged melodies shimmer above, giving the track an irresistible bounce and vibrant, energetic sound design. It's a track that effortlessly balances character with club-ready appeal.

On remix duties, Maruwa—a genre-fluid DJ and producer renowned for her versatility—adds her own flair. A resident at the iconic Robert Johnson club and a regular at Panorama Bar, Maruwa’s releases on labels like Steel City Dance Discs and X-Kalay have cemented her reputation as a boundary-pushing artist. Her rework of "FM Never Hurts" injects vibrant synth lines and trance-infused pads into the mix, with bumpy drums and euphoric melodies creating a feel-good energy that’s destined to light up dancefloors everywhere.

Ben Evers’ "FM Never Hurts" drops via Eternal Sunshine on 31st January 2025.

Dungen - Otis [Future Retro London]

For those familiar with Ejstes' work in Dungen, it might come as a surprise to hear the man behind timeless psychedelic rock anthems dipping into the world of jungle and hardcore. After a chance meeting in Stockholm in late 2023, where Ejstes' vinyl-heavy DJ set caught the attention of Future Retro London’s founder Tim Reaper and Bukva Sound’s Bojan (aka Boj Lucki), the collaboration was born. What began as an exploration of shared musical interests quickly evolved into the 'Untitled EP', featuring an exciting new chapter for Ejstes as a producer of high-energy, bass-driven rhythms.

" An incredibly long journey: from a day at Snickars in 2017, discovering a couple of jungle records, to becoming obsessed with rave tapes from the ’90s on YouTube and digging through records on Discogs, to Oscar Ekman hooking me up with an MPC 3000, Mattias Glavå modding it and assisting with various things." Gustav Ejstes (Source)

What adds to the allure of this release is the personal connection and journey that led to its creation. Ejstes' organic and intuitive approach to music-making shines through in every track, a reflection of his deep knowledge of both vinyl culture and his punk-inspired DIY ethos. As someone who has collected records from Bukva Sound and Future Retro London for years, it feels like a full-circle moment to finally release his own work on a label he admires.

The 'Untitled EP' offers a glimpse into the expansive potential of Gustav Ejstes as a multifaceted producer. It’s a reminder ta debut solo like this one, marks an exciting step into new territory and broaden horizons.

The vinyl comes out in January 2025 and it is digitally available already in all streaming platforms.

Arado-This And That [303lovers]

https://www.beatport.com/release/this-and-that/4797904

How about some fresh, funky House chuggers from Arado? Try out the 'This And That' EP on 303lovers

The title track teases with a lengthy percussive intro (great for DJs) that precedes a BIG drop with elements of Baillie and Rap before switching into a funky tribal groove.

'The Jungle Tribe' brings the pace down to an opening set tempo slowly edging into a midsection drop of drum fills and subtle stabs. The beats kick in with more of that Brazilian vibe to take us through to the closing beats.

Two stylish and classy House grooves
