Quantum Progression Audio take you on a deep bass excursion with the release of breakbeat don, Schoco's 'Rave Copy' EP. Featuring four expertly crafted jungle breaks tracks heavily steeped in rave history.

The collection opens to the sounds of title track, 'Rave Copy', which delivers a minimalist fusion of scuttling breaks, deep sub-bass pulses and soaring pads before the listener is hit with a devastating combination of rubber-band bass twangs and searing 'Anasthasia' stabs.
'This Feeling' takes us on a less 'abrasive' journey, with it's fusion of deep and atmospheric synth melodies and emotive piano notes set to a background of heavyweight beats and undulating bassline. Giving a tip of the hat to those proto drum & bass tracks of the early nineties.  

Up next, 'Rave Copy' receives an incendiary remix from DeadlySub which contrasts the near skeletal structure of the original mix with it's liberal helping of additional vocals samples, jittery, footwork-jungle beat patterns accented with amen break inserts, dubby soundscapes and atonal bass drones.
Bring the EP to a close we have Schoco present 'The Feeling (VIP)', which drops a stripped back and stepping breakbeat over the haunting atmospherics of the original version accented with ghostly, Burial-esque female vocals scattered throughout.

We are first introduced to the broodingly immersive, dark jungle sounds of 'Downtown 5am' which conjures up visions of a nourish, blues bar situated in the deepest reaches of 'Bladerunner's dystopian interpretation of L.A. Where industrial sounding breaks and booming bass throbs clash with melancholy piano notes to create an exhilarating sense of unease.
'Driftin' Spirit' on the other hand sees Nicky lead us deep into dark jungle territory with it's portentous, tension filled intro which soon reaches it's frantic amen layered drop midway. 'Driftin' Spirit' proves to be a perfect sonic exercise in dramatic build up and release.

Once again NickyNutz delivers another beautifully crafted, yet dark and menacing selection of tracks that will compliment any deep drum & bass/jungle set.

As May unfolds in a typically chilly UK manner, Quantum Progression Audio offers up three razor sharp and moody, future jungle cuts from Redshift with his brand new 'Psynapse EP'.
 

The EP starts off in a dancehall style with the bassbin bothering 'Handsworth'. Which incorporates a monster, rising and falling bassline with a hard-hitting breakbeats and a killer, warped dubstep bass pattern, all accompanied by classic ragga-jungle chatting.

'Kaned', (my pick of the bunch) combines a rolling DJ Mink 'Hey! Hey! Can You Relate?' break with an enveloping bass, warped effects and seriously dark 'Anasthasia' stabs. If anyone wants to sub categorise a future-darkcore genre then 'Citizen Kaned' would be a perfect selection to exemplify that style. 
 

'Eastwood (Fire & Napalm)', which closes the trio, takes you on yet another trip to the darkside, future junglistic style with an ominous, atmospheric intro that sounds like it came straight out of a 1993 jungle-tekno classic (Chaos & Julia Set springs to mind!). That is until the bass heavy, sci-fi stabs drop alongside heavyweight, stepping drumbreaks to create a perfect blend of past and future beats.

 

All in all. the 'Psynapse EP' is guaranteed to bring you future beats for any discerning lover of serious, headstrong breaks and bass.
