[DCLS002] DJ Style 90.6 - Dark Power / Trans-Elevation [12" Vinyl Single Available To Download Now From Hardcore Vinylist Records!!!]

A - Dark Power.
B - Trans-Elevation.

Following through after the success of the 'Alirght / Satisfied' 12", DJ Style 90.6 and Hardcore Vinylist Records makes a welcome return and brings with him yet another vinyl exclusive slice of contemporary junglism, with the 'Dark Power / Trans-Elevation' single ready to set your SL1210's on fire.

The collection kicks off with the deep, dark and atmospheric 'Dark Power', which deftly combines luscious pads with thundering bass pulses, rolling Amens and Soul Pride breaks and ominous movie dialogue snippets which sets a perfect tone of unease before destroying the listener with a devastating, stab fuelled drop.

On the flipside we are presented with an adrenaline soaked piece of jungle-tekno with 'Trans-Elevation', a potent blend of relentless kick-drums layered over crisp breaks and an uplifting synth riff, flavoured with swirling mentasms and ragga sound-clash vocals which perfectly captures that pivotal point when jungle, techno and hardcore merged together late 1993-1994.

Whether your rave flavours veer towards the dark or lighter side of hadcore, the 'Dark Power / Trans-Elevation' single has all bases covered. This one is  recommended for all fans of Dark Horse Records, Tango, Pascal & Sponge and Unatural Light!!!

The DJ Style 90.6, 'Dark Power / Trans-Elevation' 12" vinyl single is available to purchase now for £9.99 (plus P&P) from the official Hardcore Vinylist Records Bandcamp store, and is vinyl only. So if you wish to own a copy you better move fast as limited copies are available!!!

[DUBLINQUENTS2015.1] Tim Reaper ‎– Grapefruit EP [Limited Edition 12" Vinyl From Dublinquents!!!]

A1 - Grapefruit I.
A2 - Grapefruit II.
B1 - Grapefruit III.
B2 - Grapefruit IV.

For anyone who has followed the new breed of jungle and drum & bass producers in recent years, then the name Tim Reaper will be synonymous with tearing, intricately chopped up breakbeat tracks steeped in oldskool jungle attitude. For his latest musical foray, Tim teams up with the exclusively vinyl orientated, US jungle label, Dublinquents for the release of the cryptically titled 'Grapefruit EP'.

Tim first introduces us to the rolling, amen break propelled 'Grapefruit I', with it's intense blend of tearing breaks and hard hitting bass pulses interspersed with ragga vocal snippets and haunting, Middle Eastern flute sounds. In turn creating an all enveloping sense of unease throughout.
'Grapefruit II' sustains that dark atmosphere through it's addition of portentous pads and reverb soaked vocals, before dropping a complex, layered hard-step breakbeat pattern complimented by menacing, 1993 style darkcore synth riffs midway.

With 'Grapefruit III' on the flipside we are immediately launched into a fierce, Think break assault before an off kilter synth riff meshed with mangled, panic-stricken vocals kicks in. The track then quickly descends into darkside jungle tekno territory with the introduction of doom laden synths laced with 4/4 kicks and snippets of ragga chatter.
'Grapefruit IV' rounds off the EP to the sounds of a furious avalanche of frentic drum-breaks interspersed with ominous movie dialogue clips, bombastic 808 bass booms and mentasm stab screeches. 'Graperfruit IV' does however provide some respite by delivering soothing, sweeping pads midway to bring a perfectly timed touch of light to all the darkness.

Over the past decade there has been a huge resurgence in oldskool flavoured jungle/drum & bass tracks, proving that those innovative production techniques and sounds are far from abandoned to the mists of time. With the 'Grapefruit EP', Tim Reaper expertly implements that underground, 'untitled white label' philosophy pioneered by the unsung heroes of yesteryear to devastating effect, proving that jungle is still very much a force to be reckoned with in 2016!!!

The Tim Reaper 'Grapefruit EP' limited edition 12" vinyl is available to buy now from the official Dublinquents webstore in black or limited edition coloured splatter versions for $13.00 (plus postage & packaging). Be sure to grab your copy quickly as they are sure to become highly sought after in the near future!!!

[KVA004] Skanna - 2015 Remastered Collection [3 x 12" Vinyl Available Now To Pre-order From Keeping Vinyl Alive!!!]

A-Side - Nightstalker. (1993)
B-Side - Heaven. (1993)
C-Side - This Way. (1993)
D-Side - Find Me. (1995)
E-Side - Until The Night Is Morning. (1993)
F-Side - All You Wanted. (1994)

John Graham under his short lived Skanna moniker produced some legendary tunes from the from the birth of hardcore in 1992 right up until the beginnings of drum & bass in 1995. With releases appearing on the likes of Whitehouse Records and his own Skanna label, with many of them becoming extremely sought after nowadays.
Between 2008 and 2009 the reknowned but sadly defunct Sublogic Recordings released two artist endorsed and remastered Skanna releases on 12" vinyl, which collected the cream of Jon Graham's Skanna label. Both soon sold out and have subsequently become sought after in their own rights. However due to an increasing interest in classic hardcore, jungle and drum & bass, Sublogic Recordings label boss, Will Irvine has taken the steps to collect both 'The Skanna Collection Volume One' double 12" vinyl pack and the 'Until The Night Is Morning / All You Wanted' single to offer the 'Skanna 2015 Remastered Collection' triple vinyl pack on the Keeping Vinyl Alive label as a limited edition remastered package.

Opening with the 'Papua New Guinea' sampling, 1993 jungle-tekon classic, 'Nightstalker' which combines a thundering breakbeat backed by a booming bass thumps and techno blip melodies before dropping into the infamous Future Sound Of London drop. 'Heaven' on the flipside incorporates militant, junglistic breaks with added percussive elements along with a pervasive and warping mentasm riff and 'Ohh I'm In heaven baby' vocals to create a perfect example of the thinking man's darkcore track.

'This Way', also from 1993 takes things towards a more melodic direction with lushly sweeping strings backed by restrained, stepping breaks and gorgeous Caron Wheeler vocal samples. An early example of what would become intelligent/atmospheric drum & bass. The timeline jumps forward to 1995 next with the exquisite pre-liquid D&B classic 'Find Me'. A lush stepping track with rich layered breaks and gentle bass throbs which morph into soulful keyboard notes and female sighs.

The legendary pitch-black anthem 'Until The Night Is Morning' drops next in a thunderstorm of clattering, pitched breaks and bass booms, accompanied by suspenseful strings and brain searing hoover stabs. However all is not lost to the darkness with the inclusion of one intensely atmospheric drop featuring the infamous 'I'll be there.....until the night is morning!' 1994's 'All I Wanted' wraps things up by dropping a dub-vibed,  deeply atmospheric jungle monster with intensely programmed and layered breaks and percussion.

Six rarities from one of the hardcore, jungle the drum & bass scene's unsung heroes and a vinyl collection that is sure to become just as sought after as the original releases.

The 'Skanna 2015 Remastered Collection' triple vinyl pack is available to pre-order for the price of £30 plus postage and packaging from the Keeping Vinyl Alive webstore link below, and is estimated to be ready for distribution in approximately . There are approximately only 40 copies left for pre-order so buy now before they are gone forever!!!

This release has been mastered by Beau Thomas (aka oldskool hardcore/jungle D&B legend Intense, Babylon Timewarp, The Whitehouse Crew) at Ten Eight Seven Mastering, and is being pressed by Optimal Media GmbH in Germany. So expect nothing but the best quality!
