[VMRDT113] UZI - Tommy Tank EP [Available To Purchase Now From Viral-Mental Records Digital Stores!!!]

1/ He Da Ho.

2/ Impact.

3/ Tommy Tank.

4/ Wu-Tang Book.

The Viral-Mental Records camp are back after their short break, and this time they bring Uzi in tow to unleash his double-entendre loaded 'Tommy Tank EP', which features a quartet of rough and rugged, jungle/D&B dancefloor artillery. Batton down the hatches, it's time for battle!!!

The conflict begins with 'He Da Ho', an upfront slice of headstrong, jump-up drum & bass (circa 1996!), driven by a crisp series of two-step breaks, funky FX swells and a bouncing, rubber ball bassline that'll put a smile right on yer face.
Up next we go all dubwise with the skanking 'Impact', a moody stepper of a tune propelled by rugged beats and a sinister, droning bass riff peppered with forlorn, dub reggae trumpet blasts and guitar flourishes. One for the headstrong junglist out there.

After a heart pounding, stab fuelled intro, title track 'Tommy Tank' gets the party flowing with it's fusion of ascending/descending bass groans and rapid-fire, electro-on-speed breaks switching from lighter to darker vibes in an instant.
We are then led to the EP's conclusion with the 'Wu-Tang Book', which fuses together vintage kung-fu flick samplage and Oriental sound effects, with classic T.O.V. style bass riffs and precision crafted, clockwork breakbeats to give you a veritable martial arts, jungle masterpiece.

As always, the mighty Uzi pulls out all the stops to bring you a rich and varied collection of jump-up jungle (not the kids stuff mind you!) and dancefloor destroying drum & bass that'll be a mainstay in your DJ set for months!!!

UZI's 'Tommy Tank EP' is available to purchase now from all good Viral-Mental Records digital stockists and streaming sites!!!

[KLPR023] Devastate - Time For Something Different [Available Now From All Good KLP Records Digital Stockists!!!]

1/ Time For Something Different.

2/ To The 808.
3/ Time For Something Different (Chainsaw Mix).

DJ Devastate makes a welcome return to the KLP Records camp with... something just a little bit different from the label's usual junglistic fare. The 'Time For Something Different' EP marks the KLP brand's first step into full-on jump-up drum & bass, but don't panic just yet. These are straight up dancefloor anthems, not obnoxious, bassline free noise fests.

Title track 'Time For Something Different' kicks off the process with smooth, mellow pad opening and a relentless 2-step breakbeat pattern, before you are hit with a devastating dub bass riff and rasping midrange synth combo that'll get everyone's feet movin'.

Up next we are introduced to the booty shaking 'To The 808', a killer nuskool jungle track which expertly blends together haunting, cloud rap style piano melodies with a booming bassline, hyperkinetic breaks and hypnotic female rap vocals.

Rounding the collection off we have the 'Chainsaw Mix' of 'Time For Something Different', which twists up that midrange synth riff to oblivion and adds extra 'chainsaw' for those who prefer a more industrial edge to their tunes!!!

If you are seeking some hard-hitting, dancefoor anthems to get your sets jumping, then look no further than Devastate's latest offering here!!!

The 'Scientist's top pick = 'To The 808' for it's infectiously catchy, moody melodies.

[VMRDT076] Hektic - Boltron [Available From All Good Viral-Mental Records Digital Stockists Now!!!]

1/ Full Ten.

2/ Boltron.

3/ Tell Dem.

4/ Star Key.

It's all about the "BASS!" when it comes to the latest release from Viral-Mental Recordings' stalwart, Hektic. The 'Boltron' EP wears it's 1996 era, dancefloor orientated jump-up jungle influences proudly on it's sleeves. With clear inspiration from classic labels, such as Tru Playaz, Trouble On Vinyl and Intalex Productions running through each of the four tracks's featured.

'Full Ten' is first up to the plate, and it does so by teasing the listener with an organ riff and rugged breakbeat driven intro, coupled with vintage movie samples, before diving into a mammoth, pulsating bassline that'll get your head nodding.
The hazy, smokey sounds of the frankly trippy 'Boltron' follow next, and strips things back by introducing us to a skippy, stepping break flavoured with Wu-Tang vocal snippets and psychedelic pads.

The junglistic 'Tell Dem' drops a moody, dub guitar skank over stepping, layered breaks and earth-shaking bass drones, whilst dropping delay-soaked reggae vocals - imagine Burial's 'Broken Home' set to a jungle soundscape if you may.
Last but certainly not least, 'Star Key's concludes the EP in full-on, bassline driven style that would have pricked up the ears of the T.O.V. crew if it had been unleashed 20 years ago prior. Perfectly concluding a retro themed, yet thoroughly current collection of upfront jump-up belters.

If you love your bassline's chunky, your breaks rough and rugged and your jump-up jungle with it's feet firmly rooted to the dancefloor, then Hektic's 'Boltron' EP will be just the thing to get you brockin' out!!!

[VMRDT063] Hektic - Suicide [Available From All Good Viral-Mental Records Digital Stockists Now!!!]

1/ Suicide.

2/ Suicide (DnB Mix).

3/ Suicide (SkorpZ Remix).

Hektic makes his return to Viral-Mental Records with the release of the brand new 'Suicide' single featuring three firing jump-up, drum & bass numbers including an exclusive remix from SkorpZ.

Hektic's original mix of 'Suicide' sets the ball rolling with it's 'hectic' (excuse the pun) fusion of tearing amen edits and rock solid hard-step breaks peppered with aggressive gangsta rap vocal snippets and gargantuan bass throbs like it was 1996 all over again. The 'Suicide (DnB Mix)' takes the foundations of the original and gives it a 2016 twist, powered by 100mph, breakneck speed breakbeats.
SkorpZ completes the trio of mixes with a huge dancefloor friendly rework which also gives a nod to late nineties jump-up, where stepping breaks and electrifying arpegiated synth riffs combine with a bouncy bassline that wouldn't have sounded out of place on labels like S.O.U.R. and Emotif back in the day!!!

If you are looking for some high-octane, unashamedly jump-up focused D&B then Hektic more than delivers the goods with 'Suicide'.

The Hektic, 'Suicide' single is available to purchase from all good Viral-Mental Records digital stockists now, so get ready to do damage with these badboys!!!
