In an exclusive interview with Christian Homan on the Twilight Show over RTE Pulse, the iconic duo of NJOI (Nigel Champion and Mark Franklin) delved into their storied past, as well as present and future action. Reflecting on their journey that commenced in the primary school days at the age of six, the duo offered insights into the energetic rave movement's kickstarting stages.
The discussion touched upon the genesis of the 'Hidden Gems' EPs, a project spurred by none other than Shadow Child of Food Music, who recognized the enduring appeal of NJOI's earlier works and specifically the 'Live in Manchester' class.
"We needed to clear up the past and make available the tracks that were in demand, really" Mark Franklin elucidated.
The duo is currently immersed in creating fresh material collaborating also with the illustrious Saffron, renowned for her vocals on the timeless classic 'Anthem.'
Nigel Champion emphasized the liberating potential of crafting an album, stating, "You've got more chance to express yourself in an album; it suits us to really have a go at that now and to just keep on going, really. We both love music, and we both get a lot of response back from our fans out there. It means something to them, and that's a good enough reason to keep on going, basically."
The forthcoming chapter in NJOI's saga holds the potential to seamlessly blend the echoes of the past with the pulsating beats of the future, ensuring their continued resonance in the hearts of music enthusiasts worldwide.
