It's been way too long since I last checked out the latest from Criterion Records, and what a release to drop in at with 'Something Something / Shackles / Muted Colours / 13th Chapter', which features contributions from some of the hottest underground jungle and drum & bass producers out there at this moment in time.

Leading the charge we have production duo Tactical Aspect, who present to us their retrospective, amen-jungle rinse-out track 'Something Something', which sees frenetic breakbeat edits do battle with a thundering bassline and 1993 style, Reinforced Records style atmospherics. 

ADM up next also utilises fierce amen manipulations with 'Shakles', a track which sees the iconic break sliced, diced, filtered and time-stretched to oblivion and coupled with cavernous, moody bass drones and dark, Blue note era mentasm snarls that'll send shivers up your spine for sure.

The B-Side sees Polarity takes us into deep, intelligent jungle territory with 'Muted Colours', which sees us treated to a rich fusion of luscious pads and vintage female vocal samples (shades of Omni Trio here) layered over intense drum work and gentle bass pulses to wash over your soul.
To round off this collection we have Furious & Paragon's '13th Chapter', a glacially cold blend of pitch black pads, interlaced with heavily reverberated vocal effects, ten-ton, tearing breaks and punishing, bass heavy synth riff which conjure up visions of a monstrous behemoth, destroying everything in it's path.

Tactical Aspect- 2 Weeks Turkish [Urban Elementz]

I'm a massive fan of Tactical/Ruff Tactics, they make some of the most unique sounding Jungle, OldSkool Hardcore and Industrial beats in general, this is the first release on their new label which promises to be a label to follow, 5 tracks in total here of atmospheric dark jungle, worth getting for 'Leatherface' alone, a track which perfectly captures the blood curdling  twisted vibe of the 1970s horror flick from which it samples, go support some great music, buy this EP!!!
