[YMMM003] Champa-B - Modified Magic 003 [Limited 12" Vinyl Only - Pre-Orders Available Now!!!]

A1 - Out Of Your Head.

A2 - Black Voodoo.
B1 - The Pulse.

B2 - Brainstormer.

Modified Magic takes us back to the heady days of 1993 jungle tekno, where frenetic, ruffnneck breakbeats, rude basslines and menacingly dark atmospherics ruled the raves and pirate radio airwaves, with the forthcoming vinyl only release of the 'Modified Magic 003' EP. Featuring four massive tracks courtesy of pedigree junglist, Champa-B of Green Bay Wax, Lickshot Recordings and Scientific Wax fame.

Kicking things off with the nigh-on chaotic breakbeat mashup meets mentasmic rushiness of the Colonal Abrams sampling 'Out Of Your Head'. 'Modified Magic 003' then steers itself towards amen-fueled jungle tekno territory where sinister bass moans do battle with thumping kickdrums on 'Black Voodoo'.

'The Pulse' blends even more breakneck speed, amen choppage with vintage Formation Records style bass throbs and off kilter effects, before being bookended by closing track, 'Brainstormer' which sees richly layered percussive edits become enveloped by a seismic bassline and ominous strings.

If 2015 saw the likes of labels like 7th Storey Projects and Tuff Cut Records carry the torch for nuskool jungle-tekno and darkside hardcore, then Modified Magic and Champa-B are set to ensure that those authentic 1993 flames are going to continue to burn bright for a long time!!!

Champa-B's 'Modified Magic 003' limited edition vinyl 12" is available to pre-order from the Modified Magic Big Cartel webstore link below for the price of £7.99 plus P&P...

[YMMM002] ScanOne - I'll Be Your Eyes [Limited 12" Vinyl Pre-Orders Avilable From Modified Magic]

A1 - I’ll Be Your Eyes.
B1 - We Copy.

B2 - Ssik 92.

Quick on the heels of Tap Throw's 'Dip Switches EP', the Modified Magic label uncovers their second release, the 'I'll Be Your Eyes' EP by ScanOne, head honcho of the Yellow Machines label head honcho. Featuring three slabs of deep and dark, oldskool hardcore, techno and jungle influenced tracks with a touch of the abstract and the off-kilter.

The EP begins in a tearing, dark jungle fashion with 'I'll Be Your Eyes' which lays down metallic, time-stretched breakbeats and sweeping synths on the intro, which then merge into militant, Funky Mule breaks, bleeps and technoid bass throbs. The track then gains in momentum before unleashing a massive, spine-tingling synth drop with resonating chime effects, and more spacious pads, before rounding things off with additional layered, darkside breakbeats. An epic piece which combines the frenetic elements of 1993 hardcore and jungle with those of techno and electronica to immense effect.

'We Copy' follows in a similar manner as it's predecessor with 1992-style, junglistic drumbeats interspersed with rolling Apache breaks, nods to oldskool hardcore's hip-hop sampling rots, and booming bass pulses which carry a warped, acidic bassline and techno blips over sinister synth notes. A true trip to the darkside!

The EP is rounded off by the cryptically named 'Ssik 92', a moody hardcore/jungle inspired track oozing with menacing synths, bubbling bassline, dub-reggae drumrolls and an immense, disconcerting, warped acid flourish to add a sense of unease.

Altogether ScanOne has crafted a trilogy of deeply sinister hardcore/jungle tracks which wear their leftfield techno influences proudly on their sleeves. The 'I'll Be Your Eyes' 3-Tracker is a perfect addition of those who appreciate the futuristic vision of the 1993 hardcore and jungle scenes and the pioneers of forward thinking electronica. Essential listening!

ScanOne's 'I'll Be Your Eyes' limited edition vinyl 12" is available to pre-order from the Modified Magic Big Cartel webstore link below for the price of £7.99 plus P&P

[YM-MM-001] Tap Throw - Dip Switches E.P [EDITION 12" & DIGITAL EP - LIMITED PRE-SALES AVAILABLE NOW!!!]

A1 - Living in Chains.

A2 - Fiebings (BSP Mix).

B1 - Well Of Souls.

B2 - Trails (Franker R.I.P).

The highly esteemed Yellow Machines label famous for it's eclectic and high quality multi-genre back catalogue introduces it's brand new offshoot label Modified Magic with a 4-Track digital and Limited Edition 12" vinyl EP from Tap Throw (AKA Luke Williams/Quinoline Yellow).

The 'Dip Switches E.P' take you deep into vintage jungle territory from the onset with 'Living In Chains' kicking off the EP with a classic Think break accentuated with jazzy synths and miniscule rave stab FX. Atmospheric and dreamy synth washes envelope you on 'Fiebings (BSP Mix)', driven on by stepping breaks and gentle bass throbs.

'Well Of Souls' opens up the B-Side with a clockwork, breakbeat intro before unleashing crunching Virgo breaks overlaid with a thumping bassline and classic jazz sighs to get the sample-spotters ears twitching. Closing track, the hypnotically drifting 'Trails (Franker R.I.P)' combines rhythmic and atmospheric keys with intricate breaks and spinback effects.

If the classic mellow sounds of Reinforced Records and A Guy Called Gerald circa 1994-95 sends you off to jungle heaven then Tap Throw's 'Dip Switches E.P' will be a guaranteed welcome addition to your record box.

The 'Dip Switches E.P' is scheduled for a full vinyl and digital release in April, however Yellow Machines have a very small quantity of 12" vinyl pre-sales available to purchase now before the release date, for £8.99 plus P&P from the link below...
