Shake n Vac Warriors 'Kick It With A Beat' takes it back to the super early days of Breakbeat Rave/Hardcore- think of the Kickin' Records style, championed by DJ Hype and Grant Nelson- crisp Hip Hop beats sped up to around 130BPM with strong Belgian Techno overtones.
Overlord Dyson 'Get Back' (Shake n Vac Warriors Remix) continues along those lines- very much in the style of The Scientist/Kicksquad/Tigers in Space with quintessential oldskool hardcore breaks that sound so good, and an army of hoovers making melodies that could tear down walls!
This write-up captures the raw excitement of early rave culture so well. The “army of hoovers” line made me smile, because it reminded me of house parties where even the floor seemed to vibrate. Looking forward to Vol. 3, do you think it will lean darker or keep that playful edge like these tracks? Either way, it’s got me digging through my collection of old carpets of sound.
