Never a stranger to the realms of drum & bass, the ever prolific Chris Kaoz makes his debut appearance on the Allowance Records label with the release of the 'Transmitter' EP. Featuring four huge dancefloor orientated cuts, 'Transmitter' is destined to deliver some future D&B anthems that'll get any crowd moving.
'Take A Good Look' kicks things off the proceedings and soon introduces us to a series of bitcore-styled blips and beeps coupled with a heavyweight, stepping break and bizarrely humorous vocal sample to get you scratching your head where it came from (it's gotta be 'South Park'? Right?). We are taken back in time to the early noughties with 'The Nukes', which combines intricate techno melodies with, scuttering breaks and cinematic atmospherics as if Bad Company UK had carried on making epic, techy D&B instead of separating to form their own very different musical destinies.
My personal favourite track from the release, 'Transmitter' comes up next with manic it's fusion of frantic beats, soaring pads, monstrous growling bassline and energizing synth notes straight outta the oldskool! A forward thinking drum & bass anthem which isn't afraid to pay homage to the past. 'Whats On My Mind' sees the EP to a close by luring the listener into a false sense of security with it's sultry, jazzy intro before dropping a filthy, warped bass riff out off nowhere.
If you love your D&B to have it's feet firmly placed on the dancefloor, but with a few surprises to keep the mind occupied also, the Chris Kaoz has just what you'll be looking for with the 'Transmitter' EP.
